LAKEVILLE, CONN. – Following a very successful inaugural event, MiataCon is back at Lime Rock Park for its second annual gathering October 25-26. Dedicated to Miata enthusiasts, MiataCon 2024 promises to be an action-packed weekend honoring all makes of the Mazda Miata. This inclusive grassroots race weekend will bring together Miata owners, fans and industry experts from around the country to revel in the passion for this legendary roadster.
Event Highlights and Group Line-Up
The weekend will feature three unique Miata race groups: Spec Miata, Spec/Global MX-5 and an Open Exhibition group which will include any race-prepped Miata that doesn’t fit into the first two groups. Also featured will be a Miata-only HPDE group, giving non-race drivers time on track throughout the weekend. Practice and qualifying will fill Friday’s on-track activity, with Saturday opening with sprint races from each group & culminating with an hour-long multi-group enduro. Lime Rock Park is proud to announce that its partner Sports Car Driving Association (SCDA) will once again sanction MiataCon, opening registration up to professional and club drivers.
Following last year’s popularity of MiataX, the Miata-only autocross lapping sessions on the FCP Euro Proving Grounds, Lime Rock Park expanded the number of spots for participation with sessions open on both Friday and Saturday this year. Participants must register ahead of the event via the MiataCon registration page.
Exciting Prizes and Contingencies
Synonymous with grassroots racing, Hoosier Tire will once again sponsor the contingency prizes to MiataCon winners, awarding the winners of each eligible featured race class with a pair of high-performance Hoosier racing tires. Subsequent podium finishers for each class will also receive a Hoosier Tire as part of their prize package.
The competition will get even spicier on track as drivers from each class vie to become a Miata Master. Lime Rock Park will underwrite the entry fees for the class winners to return to MiataCon in 2025 and defend their titles as Miata Masters. Each of the winners of the afternoon races on Saturday and the registered driver in the enduro are eligible for the prize. Winners will also receive a complimentary entry to an Advanced Lapping Day on track with the Lime Rock Drivers Club. MiataCon’s second and third-place finishers will receive two weekend passes of their choice to any 2025 Lime Rock Park event. To round the prize pool out, the Sports Car Driving Association is awarding gift certificates for podium finishers.
Support from Mazda of Milford and Car Corrals
Mazda of Milford will be on hand to support MiataCon with a fleet of support vehicles, including the latest CX-30, CX-50, and CX-90 models, providing attendees with an opportunity to check out some of Mazda’s newest offerings.
Miata owners from all generations will have the chance to come together to celebrate their love for the Japanese sportscar. The weekend will feature five different Miata Car Corrals where like-minded Miata enthusiasts can park amongst each other and participate in parade laps around the iconic Lime Rock Park circuit. The different corral classifications include: NA Miata (1989- 1997), NB Miata (1998 – 2005), NC Miata (2006 – 2015), ND Miata (2016 – present), Mazda & JDM Sportscars, and Kei Cars.
Additional Miata-themed vendors and exhibits will also outfit Lime Rock Park’s midway.
