Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype and GT Class campaigns as well as Riley Tech Camaros in Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Mooresville, NC (4 March 2010)—Riley Technologies (a division of SEA STAR GROUP, INC. Stock Symbol SGQZ) got a fast start to the 2010 racing season, and will look to keep that momentum going again this weekend.
After continuing its long history of success at Daytona International Speedway with both the overall victory and a GT Class win in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, Riley Technologies will focus on the sprint format that will be featured the next four Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 events, starting with this weekends Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead Miami Speedway.
Riley Tech has captured the GRAND-AM Daytona Prototype Manufacturer Championship for the last six years running, and will look to extend that streak in 2010. Riley Tech supports the firms customer base at every GRAND-AM event with full spares and parts supply, support engineers, and field technicians to keep the cars at speed and on the track.
Leading the charge at Homestead will be the Rolex 24-winning No. 9 Action Express Racing Porsche V8-Riley Daytona Prototype of Joao Barbosa and Terry Borcheller, who enter the weekend with the championship lead. The field will also see the competition intensify after Starworks Motorsport’s announcement of a second entry starting with the Grand Prix of Miami. The team has high hopes for the weekend, and knowing that the BMW-Riley combination was the winning choice at the race in 2007 will only intensify that enthusiasm.
In addition, the goals are no less ambitious in the Rolex Sports Car Series GT Class, which sees both the Mazda RX-8 and the Turner Motorsport BMW M6 utilizing the Riley GT platform. A full bevy of the Mazda machines, built by the Rolex 24-winning Speedsource organization, will target a return to the winners circle as Turner looks to build on a strong debut Rolex outing at Daytona.
The Grand Prix of Miami weekend will also feature the Miami 200 for round two of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship. The Riley Technologies Chevrolet Camaro GS.R scored fifth at Daytona with Stevenson Motorsports, a strong showing in just the second race start for the all new machine. The Continental Tire race has once again attracted a stout field of over 70 cars between the GS and ST classes.
“This is going to be a busy weekend for us, but everyone is looking forward to getting back to the track and hopefully having a strong weekend,” said Riley Technologies VP Bill Riley. “The way the schedule is laid out, with practice and qualifying on Friday and then the two races on Saturday, this is a pretty intense schedule. But we are as always fully ready to support all of our customers, and hopefully this will be another winning weekend.”
Riley Technologies has an extended legacy of success, developing competitive on-track products for the Rolex Sports Car Series, the American LeMans Series, the USAC Gold Crown Series, and the Japanese GT Championship Series.
