Millville, NJ-14 July 2010 – As the first driver to ever win a professional race at the circuit, Rum Bum Racing’s Matt Plumb certainly knows his way around New Jersey Motorsports Park.

And as the Rhode Island native teams with a new co-driver in the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing BMW M3 this weekend for the New Jersey 250 presented by Crown Royal, Plumb is looking forward to returning Rum Bum Racing to the winners circle once again on Saturday afternoon.

Rum Bum Racing fans will have a new pilot to root for starting this weekend as Gian Bacardi, who scored a dramatic win with Plumb in his rookie outing at Daytona International Speedway in January, has decided to step out from behind the wheel of the BMW as he looks to concentrate on completing his studies in business administration. Racing in his stead starting this weekend will be accomplished engineer and driver Nic Longhi.

The Nyack, New York resident will not have to spend any time introducing himself to the team members this weekend, as Longhi has already been actively involved with Rum Bum Racing through the opening stages of the 2010 season working as a spotter and consultant for the team. Longhi, who lists a Watkins Glen 6 Hour victory as his most recent racing accomplishment from behind the wheel, will also be contributing to the program as he brings  his engineering background to bear as the team continues to build speed with the BMW M3 as championship winning Crew Chief Joe Varde calls the shots from atop the pit box.

MOORESVILLE, NC (2 July 2010)— Saturday’s Brumos 250 at Daytona International Speedway will mark a significant benchmark in GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series history as the series stages the 100th Daytona Prototype race.

Since joining the GRAND-AM series in 2004, Riley Technologies (a division of SEA STAR GROUP, INC. Stock Symbol SGQZ) has been an integral part of the category and their designs now compete in both the Daytona Prototype and GT classes.

One of the seven original chassis manufactures approved for the category, the Riley design made an immediate impact, monopolizing the front row and taking a record-setting pole position in its very first appearance (2004 Rolex 24 At Daytona) before taking its first trip to victory lane in just its third race (Phoenix International Raceway).  The MKXII has gone on to win over 80% of the races entered, leading an incredible  10,469 of 13,256 laps (78.98%) completed in the Rolex Sports Car Series.

rbrmidohio.jpgLEXINGTON, Ohio, 19 June – If being fast was the only requirement for a successful race outing, then Rum Bum Racing could have called the EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio a success.

Unfortunately, though they had the speed, the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing BMW M3 finished round 7 of the Continental Sports Car Challenge behind pit wall rather than on the track.

Driver Gianluis Bacardi drove the opening stint, starting from the 20th position.  As soon as the green flag waved over the 50-plus car field at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Bacardi began charging to the front of the field.  By lap 2, he had improved two positions, and by lap 15, he was in 12th place.

Unfortunately, the twists and turns, the hills and drops of Mid-Ohio have been known to bite, especially when the track temperatures soar well above 100 degrees and the track becomes quite greasy.  At turn-8, Bacardi slipped off of the track and nosed into the gravel trap where he was stuck until he could get towed.

The No. 13 was soon extricated and Bacardi made his way back to the pits, thankfully, while the field was under caution due to a separate incident.  Fuel, tires and a driver change were on order as co-driver Matt Plumb traded places with Bacardi.
