“We don’t want to finish second, we want to win”
        -Will Turner

tmswin200.jpg29 May 2010--That philosophy couldn’t have been more evident on Saturday afternoon as Turner Motorsport delivered a vintage race performance at Lime Rock Park to win the teams 200th professional race start.

Joey Hand and Michael Marsal shared the No. 97 Borla exhaust / Motul Lubricants BMW M3 for thier second consecutive GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge victory, moving the duo to the top of the Championship standings at the middle point of the season.

The win was a particularly sweet one, as the team celebrated with the huge crowd of friends and family as well as Turner Motorsport fans who traditionally make thier way to Lime Rock Park, the teams home track.

After moving up from 16th on the grid to 11th in the order during the race, Marsal turned the car over to Hand to close the deal as the BMW factory pilot rejoined the race in 22nd. After fighting his way forward,  a strategic and timely Turner pit stop put Hand out in front of the 61 machine as cheers erupted in the Turner pits.

“I went out and was just cutting a rug out there,” said Hand of his laps after pitting.  “This place is just magic for Turner Motorsport, and its great to see so many fans here today, and especially to see so many Turner Motorsport fans here on the hill outside of victory lane. Every time I get in the car, I want to put on a good show and we did that today. Ever since the track was repaved, this place is a two-groove track and that gives us room to pass, and put on a show like we did. M&M (Marsal) did a great job and handed me the car in good shape to  run hard to the end.”

“I hate watching the last few laps!” said Marsal from the pit box as the final moments in the race clicked off.  “I just wanted to give Joey a car he could win with, and he did just that. We had some problems in qualifying, but the team came back strong today and the car was just great. I’m excited to be a part of Turner Motorsport and especially on a day like today!”

kiasidevirspeed.jpgEvery race is a big one, but for Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood, round five of the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship at Lime Rock Park is a particularly anticipated event as the two make their racing return the Northwest Connecticut facility for the Memorial Day weekend Grand Prix.

Burrows and Hopwood will be sharing the No. 12 Kia Motors/Infinity Audio Kia Forte Koup for Kinetic Motorsports as they look to build on their best result since being signed to the  all-new factory Kia Motorsport program.

Burrows calls nearby Canton, Connecticut, home, and has experienced Lime Rock Park in scores of different forms of racing machinery through the years. He has been a frequent visitor to the track for over a decade, having previously worked at the Skip Barber Racing headquarters in Lakeville.

While the commute is a little bit longer for Portsmouth, NH-area resident Hopwood, Lime Rock Park is no less closer to his heart. Hopwood, who has raced everything from huge-horsepower GT1 machines to Spec Racers, made his very first Continental TIre race start in 2006 at Lime Rock Park.

ALTON, Virginia, 24 April –Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood were part of another good outing for the Kia Motorsport program after the duo overcame a pair of significant setbacks to take seventh at the checkered flag at Virginia International Raceway for round four of the 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship.  The result is the fourth consecutive race finish for the former Champions, and is the best finish of the year to date for the No. 12 Kia Forte Koup entry.

The result was also part of the first double-top ten for the Kinetic Motorsports-managed GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge program as the sister No. 10 entry scored fifth at the finish.  In another indicator of how well things are beginning to gel at the new squad, Burrows recorded the machines best qualifying to date, starting from the 10th position on the ST Class grid.

Starting the 2.5-hour race from behind the wheel, Burrows worked his way up to fourth place in the early going before a significant accident slowed the race early on. Burrows made a lightning-quick decision to take to the grass to avoid the incident, and while he lost a few spots in the transaction, he was rewarded by not being involved with the accident.
