{"id":1248,"date":"2019-04-30T16:33:01","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T20:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=1248"},"modified":"2023-05-03T16:09:45","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T20:09:45","slug":"rebel-rock-ready-for-mid-ohio-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2019\/04\/30\/rebel-rock-ready-for-mid-ohio-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Rebel Rock Ready for Mid-Ohio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Former winner Liddell returns to circuit after 5 year absence<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>LEXINGTON, Ohio (30 April 2019) \u2013 After an encouraging start to the 2019 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season that hasn\u2019t yielded the results to match the effort, Rebel Rock Racing is looking\u00a0 forward to Saturday\u2019s Mid-Ohio 120 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.<\/p>\n<p>Frank DePew and Robin Liddell will co-drive the No. 71 Urban Grid Solar\/MVP Capital Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R in the two-hour race, part of the 23-car entry in the lead Grand Sports class.<\/p>\n<p>DePew has been to Mid-Ohio as a spectator for an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event, but has yet to turn a lap on the 13-turn, 2.258-mile circuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never raced at the track, so it will be a bit of a learning curve, but hopefully I\u2019ll be up to the challenge,\u201d DePew said. \u201cI\u2019ve got a pretty good idea of what I need to do, so hopefully I can get in there, hit my marks, and get close to where I need to be. I want to qualify as best as I can, stay on the lead lap and avoid trouble. Then, I\u2019ll turn it over to Robin, and see what he can do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/cRXUr7vVLNr7WNSc3GNCuDkOqpPmoubCOIRzmJ-6N5EpNVO498wI14JQHf4wcXduezBhXuL4hMUlq2dibdKiwhJjiHi89wqOAq7dVZ7VUAO28ENSI2J9Nf3TcNriosZoae8Uc4q8eP7BLb3Kj0aAuN7RAvEDMezqPaN3az0KwHo=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/_compresseds\/fcb85538-29ed-48e0-8d8a-029c7651cc69.jpg\" width=\"325\" height=\"216\" align=\"left\" \/>Liddell won two races among five podium finishes in Grand-Am Rolex Series GT competition at Mid-Ohio, but has not raced there since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to getting back to Mid-Ohio, because as strange as it may sound I\u2019m just excited to be visiting a circuit which I haven\u2019t seen for over five years,\u201d said Liddell, who serves in the dual role of driver and team manager for Rebel Rock Racing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMid-Ohio is a fun track to drive, but only when the car is working well,\u201d Liddell said. \u201cI\u2019m confident the team at Rebel Rock can give Frank and myself a good car for this event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rebel Rock Racing was caught up in an early incident in the most recent event at Sebring, where the team lost 10 laps after being knocked off course by a competitor. In the season opener at Daytona, the team was taken out on the third lap and finished 35<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Sebring I started 21<sup>st<\/sup>, moved up three positions and then during a pass\u00a0at Turn 16\u00a0to move\u00a0up another position our Camaro was hit, breaking the left front control arm and putting us out of contention, and our crew did an amazing job to get us back into the race so quickly and after the quick repair the car felt solid and was still turning good lap times.\u201d said DePew. \u201cI felt good about my driving at Sebring; I got up to speed and felt confident behind the wheel.\u00a0I feel good about Mid-Ohio and I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/RyIDLeS7cQMulceYgjam5_9JJLuVZw_t8e1wHTd5_j8083af8n-CwDXa3N2SUhj7C7XtP8vr6rqooEE1Ju69wRafmc1bv6oehH9a0Sev7BcPP1jAjfIGWScSMHMxzWg7ko2oGzjahmcXvkVehgp8SokM5vF9u6ZRb45kZbA-sJg=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/_compresseds\/11ba61bb-7b3d-4d11-bf72-6094f0c6f6e5.jpg\" width=\"325\" height=\"216\" align=\"right\" \/>Liddell is also optimistic returning to the circuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsually the races are pretty intense at Mid-Ohio, and coupled with the layout makes it an exciting event for the fans,\u201d Liddell said. \u201cOur goal this weekend is simply to deliver a solid finish with no mistakes, and I\u2019m sure that if we do that we will net a strong finish. It\u2019s been nice to have a break since Sebring to allow everyone to reset, and I know that we are all as prepared as we can be and are looking forward to hitting the track on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On-track activity begins on Thursday with promoter\u2019s day testing.
