{"id":1571,"date":"2019-09-14T17:34:22","date_gmt":"2019-09-14T21:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=1571"},"modified":"2023-05-03T15:40:34","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T19:40:34","slug":"nasr-fifth-fastest-for-whelen-engineering-in-laguna-seca-qualifying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2019\/09\/14\/nasr-fifth-fastest-for-whelen-engineering-in-laguna-seca-qualifying\/","title":{"rendered":"Nasr fifth-fastest for Whelen Engineering in Laguna Seca qualifying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MONTEREY, CA (14 September 2019) \u2013 Felipe Nasr earned a third-row starting position for Whelen Engineering Racing in Saturday\u2019s qualifying for the Monterey SportsCar Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (live Sunday broadcast on NBC starting at 3:00 PM ET).<\/p>\n<p>Looking to gain ground towards a second-consecutive IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship DPi title, Nasr qualified fifth fastest with a lap of 1:15.610-seconds in the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R that will be co-driven by Pipo Derani.<\/p>\n<p>The team enters Sunday\u2019s two-hour, 40-minute race second in the DPi standings, trailing the leaders by only seven points with two races remaining in the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made a few changes, and the car felt better than it had during the last practice session,\u201d Nasr said. \u201cWe went in the right direction and I qualified fifth. We would like to be further up front to start,\u00a0 but still it is not too bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel the race itself is going to be the big point here,\u201d Nasr continued. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of tire degradation that I can see across most of the competition, and I feel we work pretty well over the race stuff.
