(9 December 2019) \u2013 Mike Conway will rejoin Action Express Racing for the fourth consecutive year when he co-drives the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R in the Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 25-26, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-1675\"><\/span>Conway will be a leading contender in the 58<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opening classic, co-driving with Felipe Nasr, Pipo Derani and Filipe Albuquerque. Conway drove the red-and-white No. 31 Cadillac in both 2017 and 2018, finishing second in the latter race with Nasr, Eric Curran and Stuart Middleton in a 1-2 finish for Action Express Racing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1676\" src=\"http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-200x300.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-200x300.jpg 200w, http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-768x1152.jpg 768w, http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-683x1024.jpg 683w, http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-97x146.jpg 97w, http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-33x50.jpg 33w, http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321-50x75.jpg 50w, http:\/\/axracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/010417_ROAR_bcpix318321.jpg 800w\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/>A year ago, Conway was scheduled to pilot the team\u2019s No. 5 Cadillac, but was forced to sit out the event after experiencing visa issues while traveling from his home in London.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to be back with Action Express Racing, and it\u2019s been fun so far driving with them since 2017,\u201d said Conway. \u201cWe\u2019ve had some good results, but obviously, winning at Daytona has eluded us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conway finished sixth at Watkins Glen and seventh at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in 2019, co-driving the No. 5 Cadillac Prototype with Albuquerque and Joao Barbosa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI raced with Albuquerque last year, and I\u2019ll be teaming up again with Nasr \u2013 whom I drove with my last time at Daytona,\u201d Conway said. \u201cSo I know both of them pretty well as teammates. I feel we have one of the strongest lineups for this year\u2019s race, and I think we can have a good result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Conway helped Whelen Engineering drivers Nasr and Curran to both the Prototype title and the Michelin Endurance Cup (MEC)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u2013 a unique competition now captured by Action Express Racing teams for six consecutive years. He followed up the runner-up finish in the Rolex 24 with a third-place finish in the 12 Hours of Sebring. After placing sixth with the team in the 2017 Rolex 24, Conway finished third in the 12 Hours of Sebring and second at the Motul Petit Le Mans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAction Express always gives us a car to deliver,\u201d Conway said. \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to the race, especially after missing it last year due to visa issues. Now, I can\u2019t wait for the Roar (Jan. 3-5) and then the race. We are very excited to welcome Mike Conway back to the Whelen number 31 car to join Felipe, Pipo and Filipe in Daytona for the 2020 Rolex 24 hour event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A six-time competitor at Le Mans, Conway finished second overall three times in the past four years for Toyota Gazoo Racing. He is currently second in the LMP1 standings of the 2019-20 FIA World Endurance Championship with five races remaining.
