Lexington, Ky. (2017 June 6)<\/b> \u2013 Richie Morris Racing (RMR) rider Shayna Texter regained the points lead in American Flat Track (AFT) Singles competition following a second-place finish in Saturday\u2019s Red Mile in Lexington.<\/p>\n
Seeking her third victory of the season \u2013 and third in a row on Mile tracks \u2013 Texter was edged out by 0.071 seconds aboard the No. 52 RMR McElroy Packaging Honda CFR450R that also carries support from American Honda, Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda, Tucker Rocky, Performance Electronics, ProTaper and Roland Sands Design. Tristan Avery was the race winner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Red Mile wasn\u2019t the best weekend for me because we never got fully dialed in with the bike, so I was struggling in the corners,\u201d Texter admitted. \u201c So to walk away with a second-place finish was like a win for me, and I\u2019m happy to be able to leave there with the points lead heading to Oklahoma City.\u201d<\/p>\n
Texter now has 107 points, two more than Kolby Carlile, who finished third, 0.065 seconds behind the Pennsylvania rider at the Red Mile.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a dogfight, another drafting battle and they were all going at it,\u201d said team principal Richie Morris. \u201cShayna stayed tough and did her job and ended up second. We\u2019re proud of her. Now the team is working on a few things for her Honda to make her a little better for the next race.\u201d<\/p>\n
In AFT Twins competition, RMR rider Jarod Vanderkooi was credited with a 17th<\/sup>-place finish in the Feature race, retiring with mechanical problems with 12 laps remaining in the 25-lap event. Vanderkooi rides the No. 20 RMR 750 Twin that is sponsored by McElroy Packaging, Tucker Rocky, Roland Sands Design, ProTaper and Performance Electronics.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re working hard to get our twins program back to where we were earlier this year,\u201d said Morris. \u201cSome of the rules changed after Charlotte and everyone has been scrambling to sort things out. We think we are closer than it may look from the outside, but results is what this sport is all about.
