Vanderkooi posts another top-ten to move to fifth in Twins championship standings<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

CONCORD, N.C. \u2013 Richie Morris Racing (RMR) motorcycle riders Shayna Texter and Jarod Vanderkooi continued to make progress and work their way towards the top in their respective point standings inSaturday\u2019s\u00a0Harley-Davidson Charlotte Half-Mile at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Round 3 of the American Flat Track season.<\/p>\n

Texter recorded her second-consecutive podium finish, placing third in the Main Event for the AFT Pro Singles class. Riding the No. 52 RMR McElroy Packaging Honda CFR450R\u00a0that also carries support from American Honda, Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda, Tucker Rocky, Performance Electronics, ProTaper and Roland Sands Design, Texter finished third behind fellow Pennsylvanian Dalton Gauthier \u2013a competitive 2.216 seconds behind the winner.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt a little off all day, even though I was fastest in the opening round of free practice,\u201d Texter said. \u201cI\u2019m super excited to get out of here with a third place. The track was super slick \u2013 not usually my ideal conditions. We made a lot of changes, and I\u2019m stoked to be coming out of here with another podium, coming up on our next two races on Mile tracks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite missing the Heat races in the opening round at Daytona International Speedway \u2013 the Harley-Davidson Daytona TT \u2013 Texter now stands fourth in the point standings, just two points behind third.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaytona was definitely a disappointment, but I hadn\u2019t run TTs in a long time, so I didn\u2019t have high expectations,\u201d said Texter, the only Singles rider in addition to Gauthier with two podium finishes this season. \u201cI would have been happy with a fifth at Woodstock (the Atlanta Half-Mile) and wanted a podium at Charlotte, so with two top-threes I can\u2019t complain a whole lot!\u201d<\/p>\n

Vanderkooi\u00a0 started from the outside of the second row in the Main for the AFT Pro Twins class after finishing eighth in his Semi. He worked his way through the pack aboard the No. 20 RMR Kawasaki Ninja 650 to take an eighth-place finish in the feature race.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlotte was a bit of a struggle,\u201d admitted Vanderkooi, who is sponsored by\u00a0McElroy Packaging, Tucker Rocky, Roland Sands Design, ProTaper and Performance Electronics.\u00a0\u201cWe felt decent all night, but were just never there until the main event.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vanderkooi is now fifth in the AFT Twins standings with 30 points, but is only one point behind fourth-place rider Jake Johnson.<\/p>\n

After competing on three consecutive weekends, the AFT competitors now take a welcome break before the next event, the Law Tigers Arizona Mile presented by Indian Motorcycle on\u00a0Saturday, May 13, at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Ariz.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
