(5 October 2020)- The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli West Coast Championship expanded its 2020 season, adding an additional\u00a075-mile race to the Sonoma Raceway event slated for October 9-11.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/svPbwJPPoj1e5DRPGPuDnyDgCePiCBibHKyJe5LncUOZgTPKj4sfHVP8tIY2zHMOENA5M9CHug4USArZhX_vAdwugZkYlrsqRBJD30hI038iRXoI4q-2LHdMSY2czjtDP2s7cnLMyfcL8RKhlHRIQnYlnETKDA=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/ef2f282e-11bc-428b-a2c2-7228c6a5e047.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The new doubleheader race weekend will feature cars from all five classes: Trans Am, TA2 \u00ae Powered by AEM, XtremeGT, SuperGT and GT.\u00a0 This weekends race will mark the return to action for the Trans Am West Coast Championship, which staged its most recent event in Sonoma back in August.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That race saw Greg Pickett claim the checkered\u00a0flag\u00a0in the No. 6\u00a0Pickett Racing Ford Mustang ahead of second-place overall finisher Simon Gregg. The\u00a0dominant\u00a0victory marked Pickett\u2019s fifth Trans Am win at Sonoma since 1978.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pickett leads the championship campaign in the TA class with Gregg (XGT), Matthew Butson (TA2\u00ae), Carl Rydquist (SGT) and Joe Bogetich (GT) topping the standings in their respective classes in the West Coast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Following the double header at Sonoma, the West Coast Championship will host its final two events with the national Trans Am Series, starting with Circuit of The Americas November\u00a06-8 and ending the season with a double-header at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca December 4-6.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Adding the additional race to Sonoma will condense the timetable for the weekend with testing, practice and qualifying all on Friday (October 9), the first combined class 75-mile race will start Saturday at 1:35 p.m. Pacific.
