{"id":2719,"date":"2020-11-03T20:08:50","date_gmt":"2020-11-04T01:08:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=2719"},"modified":"2023-05-04T13:32:42","modified_gmt":"2023-05-04T17:32:42","slug":"jim-rogaski-named-trans-am-chief-steward-for-remainder-of-the-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/03\/jim-rogaski-named-trans-am-chief-steward-for-remainder-of-the-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Jim Rogaski Named Trans Am Chief Steward for Remainder of the Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><em>SCCA\u00a0Stewards\u00a0Rogaski and Ken Patterson promoted to Pro Racing ranks<\/em>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>AUSTIN, TEXAS<\/strong><strong>\u00a0(3\u00a0NOVEMBER 2020)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli will enter the final leg of its season with two new faces in Race Control.<\/p>\n<p>Due to schedule conflicts, Chief\u00a0Steward\u00a0Dorsey Schroeder and Operating\u00a0Steward\u00a0Steve DeBrech will miss the final three rounds of Trans Am competition.<\/p>\n<p>Long-time Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) stewards Jim Rogaski and Ken Patterson will step in to oversee their responsibilities in the final three Trans Am events of the 2020 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the way the schedules ended up this year, I\u2019m not able to make all of the remaining Trans Am events this season with some of my previous obligations, so we decided that it\u2019d be best to have Jim (Rogaski) there for us for the last three races of the year so there is good continuity,\u201d said Schroeder. \u201cTrans Am feels like family to me, so I\u2019m going to miss being there but I think this is the best plan for the whole paddock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Rogaski and Patterson are new to the national Trans Am Series, their stewarding experience ranges across decades. The pair have also sparked a good chemistry, working together for years within the SCCA and other racing projects.<\/p>\n<p>Rogaski, who will serve as Chief\u00a0Steward\u00a0for Trans Am, is the Chairman of the Executive\u00a0Stewards\u00a0for SCCA and also serves as the Chief Steward for Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli West Coast Championship.<\/p>\n<p>For more than two decades, Rogaski has severed served on SCCA committees, drafted and applied rules for several classes. Rogaski\u2019s experience behind the wheel will bridge the gap between\u00a0stewards\u00a0and drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Rogaski\u2019s move to Trans Am follows on the completion of the SCCA General Competition Rules and Road Racing program, which integrates the newly established Racing Rules and Passing Guidelines and marked nearly a year of collaborative efforts to produce.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Rogaski received The Woolf Barnato Award, the SCCA\u2019s highest recognition presented to a member who has made outstanding, long-term contribution to the Club. This season, Rogaski was named the SCCA\u00a0Steward\u00a0of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am looking forward to working with the drivers and teams on a national level starting at COTA,\u201d said Rogaski. \u201cI\u2019m the Chief Steward for the Trans Am West Coast Championship. I am familiar with the ruleset and some of the competitors all ready, so we anticipate a smooth transition to finish the season on a strong note.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patterson will replace DeBrech for the rest of the season as the Operating\u00a0Steward. Patterson has extensive experience within SCCA. Patterson served as an SCCA Board of Director, Executive\u00a0Steward, Chairman of the\u00a0Stewards\u00a0Program, Runoffs Operating\u00a0Steward\u00a0for five years and \u00a0Super Tour Majors Race Director for the last four years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was important to us to give the paddock consistency with a group of\u00a0stewards\u00a0who are well read on the rule book and can make quick real time decisions,\u201d said Trans Am Race Company President\u00a0John\u00a0Clagett. \u201cJim (Rogaski) and Ken (Patterson) are a formidable pair with a great track record within the SCCA. We are happy to have them on our team for the rest of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The national Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli will be back in action with the West Coast Championship at Circuit of The Americas November 6-8 followed by the penultimate doubleheader event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta November 19-22.
