(2 June 2017) \u2013 Less than a week after making the team\u2019s debut in the Indianapolis 500, <span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span> with Curb\/Agajanian continued to impress as the team scored a front row start for Round 5 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Detroit\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_970260757\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Friday<\/span><\/span>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/FlUep6CPxJQxDXeIR-P0x21bm2P8JNOurdJw2DpvrYrHhIkrYH93SzvrioyA5Xx03DXeod4cbvtAB5BdUa42OK7wnTmxdXEUMdaV087vrx_ODuvE6oEAoa1RDv18LDhrmgAkKWwDiL2pkd7EEQWdmDB5DkcO57irZaXu_sI=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/31ff21ce-edc2-4384-974b-de7955021425.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span> will start the Detroit Grand Prix from the front row of the competitive GTD class\u00a0on Saturday after Katherine Legge put the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 second on the grid.<\/p>\n<p>Legge, who shares the Acura NSX GT3 with Andy Lally, turned her quickest time on the final lap of the 15 minute qualifying run to lock in the second starting position with a lap time of 1:30.541-seconds.\u00a0The result is the best for the Acura NSX GT3 so far this year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\u201cIt was a good qualifying run &#8211; second &#8211; we\u2019ll take that!\u201d enthused Legge, who made her first-ever start at Detroit last year driving for <span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span> in the team\u2019s Honda-powered P2 car. \u201cI\u2019m proud of everyone at Acura, <span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span><span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>, and everybody involved for giving me a good car to go out there and get it done. It wasn\u2019t easy! I\u2019m just happy that we get to start on the front row and we\u2019ll see where we go from there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The qualifying result shows the progress <span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span> is making in the development of the Acura NSX GT3 in just its fifth-ever <span class=\"il\">race<\/span> event.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 of Jeff Segal and Ozz Negri was involved in an incident in the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci5.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/2m5SpyHBT47mmN4gcqvc7G9sZyBg4EdI8jt58S0InhqbSgfX1ny2Y9aFvByj_Lu-416Fhf423eeH7lsRWtSWssHh6zumT3TxgEFN6zPv9WCdyHicYpgEOdwfwfIpJ_jdkdtW-1ltyHj6aSChT0I48x_VlGqaJppO2Ehovf8=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/63128a3b-3f0a-4a31-af68-afb747677fd4.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"left\" \/>first practice which saw the car not able to partake in Practice 2. After a massive effort by the <span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span><span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span> crew members to repair the car in time for qualifying, the 15-minute session was utilized as a test to shake down the car ahead of\u00a0tomorrow\u2019s\u00a0<span class=\"il\">race<\/span> action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t get to run too much and the <span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span> guys did a really great job in some tough circumstances,\u201d said Segal. \u201cThe car felt great, and looking at what Katherine (Legge) just did it kind of stings because I think we had the pieces together to really show well. It\u2019s a little frustrating but we have a good <span class=\"il\">race<\/span> car, so we\u2019ll see what we can do\u00a0tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Team Owner Mike <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span> was proud of Legge\u2019s effort and optimistic about\u00a0Saturday\u2019s\u00a0100-minute sprint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just so happy for Katherine (Legge) and the team and to get the best qualifying of the year for this car,\u201d said <span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>. \u201cKatherine is really gaining confidence and I love it. She deserves it, she\u2019s put hard time in and she deserves it. This is what we needed to do from the beginning, we needed to qualify better and we did it. And we got the car better. The engineers have been working so hard on the set ups.
