{"id":2967,"date":"2021-02-08T16:01:10","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T16:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=2967"},"modified":"2021-02-09T16:02:02","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T16:02:02","slug":"mazda-mx-5-cup-adds-sebring-to-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/08\/mazda-mx-5-cup-adds-sebring-to-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Mazda MX-5 Cup Adds Sebring to Schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>February 8, 2021<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich\u00ae Tires has added Sebring International Raceway to its 2021 itinerary, which makes it the next event on the series schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Following a blockbuster double-header event weekend at Daytona International Speedway to open the series\u2019 sanctioning partnership with IMSA in January, the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup will join IMSA and its compliment of partner series in Sebring, March 17 \u2013 19, in support of the famous 12 Hours of Sebring. As is the case with all Mazda MX-5 Cup events, it will be a doubleheader, with both races taking place on Friday, March 19.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/Vrq4-pEz5jWMqkM2h1ESye7MTYIykGe6Gi48bl_D-roEcxQWf_GAOMwxkWYUEFGw2ylQZId6X1rtXRfxRXeckPjt5jhlcbwNbeOASYklwmybwpdcCUB4DInfo15UPMUFINA4ciJMmRN1KnmqdgOTsgVQ89eASw=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/d68b9423-2d68-49cb-bd24-70ccf5b022bc.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"left\" \/>The MX-5 Cup is no stranger to Sebring, having raced at the 3.74-mile, 14-turn road course as recently as 2018. Since the introduction of MX-5 Cup in 2006, it has competed at Sebring five times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the opportunity to bring Mazda MX-5 Cup to Sebring presented itself, it was a no-brainer to accept,\u201d said Director of Mazda Motorsports Nelson Cosgrove. \u201cSebring is a legendary track with a loyal fanbase, and we know the MX-5 Cup cars will put on a spectacular show there. We hope the drivers will \u2018respect the bumps\u2019 and give us a race as memorable as Daytona.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Placing Rounds Three and Four at Sebring serves as a replacement for a future race venue to be announced at a later date.
