{"id":2970,"date":"2021-02-11T23:31:25","date_gmt":"2021-02-11T23:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=2970"},"modified":"2021-02-11T23:31:25","modified_gmt":"2021-02-11T23:31:25","slug":"ozz-negri-returns-to-asian-le-mans-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/11\/ozz-negri-returns-to-asian-le-mans-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Ozz Negri Returns to Asian Le Mans Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Miami, Fla.\u00a0(11 February 2021) \u2013 Popular veteran sports car driver Oswaldo \u201cOzz\u201d Negri Jr. will be returning to the Asian Le Mans Series in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Negri will pilot the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3, co-driving with Francesco Piovanetti and Alessandro Pier Guidi. AF Corse will also field a second entry, the No. 54 Ferrari for Giancarlo Fisichella, Francesco Castellacci and Thomas Flohr.<\/p>\n<p>For 2021, the Asian Le Mans Series will utilize an innovative new format to suit the current global situation with an intense schedule which will\u00a0run in the Middle East. The championship will open at the Dubai Autodrome in Dubai this weekend and Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on February 19-20. The series will run four, four-hour races, combining night, day and twilight racing at the two venues.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2019-20 campaign, the series raced four times, in China, Australia, Malaysia and Thailand. Negri ran the full series with Piovanetti and Pier Guidi (three races) in the Spirit of Race Ferrari, finishing fifth in the driver championship. The team finished third on three occasions \u2013 never placing out of the top four \u2013 and placed fourth in the final standings.<\/p>\n<p>A 56-year-old native of Sao Paulo, Brazil\u00a0Negri raced in the premier class of North America\u2019s top sports car series from 2003 through 2018, mostly for Michael Shank Racing. He won the Petit Le Mans in a Ligier JS P2 LMP2 in 2016 in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition, and also won the 50th edition of the Rolex 24 At Daytona for Michael Shank Racing in a Daytona Prototype in 2012.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/JVvqO6O_EpMxrnlEG5ha3GXU9GOMAy3Q71fViWFMgo6GhMR2XvF0blHZWNUFZKpCY8RhqiEqxaKgDy8eqKjrpw7ve4CTVCcB8qbOjDljIr2pIQZgzdBilT5NR6ib-YnXZoR9QwDiukDfmThOC3Gw-RdAPh02WKsV2CINDg=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/_compresseds\/86e653ae-9604-46fb-8df3-08b6b546e76e.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"left\" \/>\u201cI think this is going to be another very competitive season in ALMS\u2014there are a lot of very good teams and drivers, with big fields as well so I\u2019m really looking forward to it,\u201d said Negri. \u201cFrancesco (Piovanetti) continues to grow as a racer, and being back at AF Corse is really special. The team is very thorough and prepared for this kind of championship so I\u2019m ready to go and see what we can do this month!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to racing sports cars, Negri competed in Indy Lights plus British and Mexican Formula 3. He won the 1998 Indy Lights Panamericana title.
