29 March 2021\u2014 Fabled eyewear firm SPY+ Optic will continue its journey to see the world differently this summer as the brand heads to the desert to chase success in Trophy Truck off-road competition. Experienced racer Michael Marsal will return to race action for the program, pairing with fellow sports car\u00a0 veteran Jack McCarthy for a limited schedule of off-road outings in 2021.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Off-road racing is known to put drivers and equipment to the ultimate test, and the link up with SPY+ will give the program the chance to utilize the performance advantages that the brand brings. SPY+ is set to be featured on the Andy Blackmore-designed livery outings in three anticipated events in 2021 starting with the Silver State 300 in April.<\/div>\n

Since first being exposed to off-road competition in his 2016 debut in the Baja 1000, Marsal moved his focus from endurance sports car racing to off-road competition. With multiple Baja 1000 events now under his belt, Marsal is looking forward to building on his experiences with some new events in 2021.<\/div>\n

The New York native will partner with industry-standard Brenthel Industries for both equipment and event support. The California-based team is owned and operated by brothers Jordan and Jonathan Brenthel, and applies the latest engineering and manufacturing technology with old world craftsmanship to achieve\u00a0 outstanding results.<\/div>\n

The limited schedule of outings will allow Marsal and McCarthy to develop the recently completed Gen 3 Trophy Truck, which has been built with an exclusive focus on off-road competition. From the high-output motor to the custom suspension set up, the rig delivers on the decades of experience and lessons learned in competition by the Brenthel brothers.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
After April\u2019s Silver State 300 event, Marsal and McCarthy will then look forward to two Baja outings, starting with September\u2019s SCORE Baja 400 that will feature a 400 mile loop starting and ending in Ensenada, California. In November, it will be a return to the 54th running of the fabled SCORE Baja 1000 for Marsal for the sprint through the dust and darkness from Ensenada to La Paz, Sur, Mexico.<\/div>\n

\u201cThese off-road events are like nothing else in racing because they are so unpredictable,\u201d said Marsal. \u201cBut it is such a tremendous experience and I\u2019m really happy to be teaming with Brenthel Industries because they have so much knowledge and their trucks are just badass. There is a lot going on this year, so I am only able to get to these three events, but I\u2019m really looking forward to them and hope to be able to do more in the future!\u201d<\/div>\n
