LEXINGTON, Ohio (11 May 2021) \u2013 Coming off a dramatic victory at Sebring, Rebel Rock Racing takes winning momentum to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Saturday\u2019s\u00a0Mid-Ohio 120, Round Three of the\u00a0IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge\u00a0(IMPC).<\/p>\n

Frank DePew and Robin Liddell guided Rebel Rock Racing\u2019s No. 71 Urban Grid Camaro GT4 to victory at Sebring, capitalizing on superior fuel strategy and nursing a badly smoking car through the final three laps.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I didn\u2019t think I could have done another lap,\u201d Liddell said after the Sebring triumph. \u201cAfter the disappointment at Daytona, the win at Sebring suddenly put us in better shape, points-wise. Now, we\u2019re sixth in the championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we are as prepared as we can be,\u201d Liddell added. \u201cMid-Ohio is an event where we have not had a lot of success at in the past. For me, the goal is to maximize the points for this weekend. If we have a car that turns out to be competitive and we get a great result, then fantastic! But I\u2019d be happy just to come out of here with decent points.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, the\u00a0IMPC\u00a0ran a September\u00a0double-header\u00a0at Mid-Ohio during its COVID-altered schedule. Despite coming off a victory at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Rebel Rock was forced to miss both races after the No. 71 Camaro was badly damaged in an incident during opening practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was excited for last year\u2019s race at Mid-Ohio,\u201d DePew said. \u201cI was bedding brakes, made a little mistake and messed up what I thought was going to be a good weekend. We\u2019re going to do it all over again this time\u00a0and hopefully get the result that I know we\u2019re capable of. We\u2019re excited and positive. We\u2019ll keep our heads\u00a0down\u00a0and do the best we can.<\/p>\n

The team is also coming off a solid test at Road America.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a strong two-day test at Road America early last week, and that\u2019s given the team a good opportunity to get some good mileage, get Frank more track time, and learn more about the car in its current state,\u201d Liddell said. \u201cWe put in some good mileage, and\u00a0that has prepared us well\u00a0for the upcoming weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was thrilling, and we learned a lot at the test,\u201d DePew said. \u201cWe did well. We didn\u2019t put a wheel wrong all weekend, and we were wringing everything we could\u00a0get\u00a0out of the car. Personally, I think I made a huge improvement, and I think that will stay with me at Mid-Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n

The team is focused on success no matter the track type or what the configuration of the IMSA Balance of Performance for every round.\u00a0 With a modest adjustment to the restrictions to the powerful Camaro ahead of Mid-Ohio, the team is looking to continue to build momentum in the points this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just had a little BOP break,\u201d said Liddell, who won two races among five podium finishes in Grand-Am Rolex Series GT at Mid-Ohio. \u201cWe got one restrictor size back\u00a0and I feel quite positive about that change; I think it\u2019s helpful. The other BOP change is that we lost a liter of fuel, so with the power increase there\u2019s a net reduction in the fuel capacity for us so the engineers have that much more to think about this weekend!\u201d<\/p>\n

Practice for the Mid-Ohio 120 begins with two sessions on Friday, May 14, with GS qualifying that evening at 6:10 p.m. ET. The two-hour race takes the green flag at 3:35 p.m. ET on Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
