Conway, Flynn return for full-season effort<\/em><\/p>\n

ORLANDO, FL (14\u00a0March 2022)<\/strong> \u2013 Irish Mike\u2019s Racing is set for a full season of IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America competition with a pair of brand-new Porsche 992s.<\/p>\n

Veteran Craig Conway returns to compete in Pro-Am at the wheel of [the No. 97 Diamond Suzuki\/Sea Pro Porsche] 992. Conor Flynn is set to begin his first full season of professional competition when he enters the Pro Class [in the No. 95 Chillout System\/Irish Mike\u2019s Total Care Care Porsche] 992.<\/p>\n

Last year, the drivers finished a respective third and fourth in the Pro-Am 991 class. For 2022, the 991 cars were eliminated, with the series focusing on the new 992 configuration in Pro, Pro-Am and Am classes. Conway missed the latter category by only two months.<\/p>\n

Both Central Florida drivers will be close to home when the seven-race 2022 campaign begins with a pair of races on Thursday, March 17, as part of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend.<\/p>\n

The team took delivery of their new Porsche 992 Cup cars one month ago, with their first testing with the cars on March 7-8 at the official Porsche test at Sebring. The latest evolution of the iconic 911, the 992 was introduced in 2021. The newest Porsche has been a hit with the competitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cPorsche is talking about record numbers of cars this year,\u201d Flynn said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to be enforcing the 107-percent rule in qualifying, because there will be so many cars on the track.<\/p>\n

The team prepared for the season with a training weekend at the Irish Mike\u2019s team shop in Orlando prior to the test.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe flew everyone up to the team shop \u2013 to learn how to do everything and learn to prepare for any type of situation, from a flat tire to practicing for the impound procedures,\u201d Flynn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a big season for us, because we\u2019ve expanded and we got a SimCraft APEX motorsports simulator to learn more about the courses, and learn about the street course at Long Beach, a place that\u2019s not very forgiving when you make mistakes. We\u2019re excited, because the whole team\u2019s ready to rock and roll.\u201d<\/p>\n

The seven-race season begins at Sebring International Raceway on March 16-17, as part of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend. Following Sebring, the Porsche Cup runs a pair of California races, making its debut on the streets of Long Beach on April 8-9, and then moving north to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on April 29-May 1.<\/p>\n

The season then visits the iconic road courses at Watkins Glen International, June 23-26; Road America, August 5-7; Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Sept. 2-4; and concludes at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Sept. 28-Oct. 1.<\/p>\n
