(2017 September 3) – Richie Morris Racing (RMR) rider Shayna Texter rebounded from a disappointing showing in Saturday’s Springfield Short Track with a 14th-place finish in Sunday’s Harley-Davidson Springfield Mile II at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, placing one position behind RMR teammate Jarod Vanderkooi in the American Flat Track (AFT) Twins event.

Texter finished sixth in her AFT Singles heat race on Saturday aboard the No. 52 RMR McElroy Packaging Honda CFR450R that also carries support from American Honda, Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda, Tucker Rocky, S&S Cycle, Performance Electronics, ProTaper and Roland Sands Design. However, she got caught in traffic in the early laps of her semi, and failed to advance to the main event with a 13th-place finish. That kept me from transferring to the main. But I was super-excited to run the mile and put it in the main event. I had a good run going before I lost my brakes. From that point, I was just riding around, thinking of the big picture.”

“We had some bad luck at the Short Track,” said team principal Richie Morris. “If there was any saving grace, our two competitors in the points didn’t finish that well, either.
