Clean and steady run to best result of season so far<\/em><\/p>\n

LEXINGTON, Ohio (14 May 2022) \u2013<\/strong> After two tough weekends of racing, Rebel Rock Racing was looking for an uneventful, contact-free event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course \u2013 and got it.<\/p>\n

Frank DePew and Robin Liddell combined for a ninth-place finish driving the No. 71 Urban Grid Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R in Saturday\u2019s Mid-Ohio 120, the fourth round of the 2022 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge campaign.<\/p>\n

Liddell drove a full stint under green and managed to gain three positions on the final lap, as several of the Grand Sport competitors ran out of fuel at the expiration of the two-hour event.<\/p>\n

Starting 22nd on a grid mixed among the two classes, DePew was able to avoid an opening-lap multi-car melee entering Turn 4. DePew emerged in 17th position, and more importantly emerged ahead of all of the TCR competitors.<\/p>\n

From that point, DePew worked his way up to 12th,\u00a0\u00a0when he pitted under the green flag to turn the Camaro to Liddell on lap 27 with one-hour, 11-minutes remaining.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not the best track for the Camaro, but I think we did really well overall as a team,\u201d DePew said. \u201cThe car felt good. Finally, all of the work we\u2019ve done is finally coming to fruition, because I came to a track I don\u2019t know very well. It was very low grip this weekend, and the car was sliding around. You have to work the car hard to know what it\u2019s going to do, and I think I\u2019m finally getting to that point. The team did an amazing job, turning the car around to get here after Laguna.\u00a0\u00a0We had some things that we needed to work on last night and the guys just got it done and the car was pretty much flawless today.”<\/p>\n

Liddell returned to the race in 33rd overall and 21st in GS, and gradually worked his way through the TCR cars to get all the way up to eighth. He pitted with 36 minutes remaining. Returning to the race in 12th, Liddell was able to post consistently quick laps to close in on several competitors that had gambled on stretching their fuel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re reasonably happy with the result, having the pace that we did and coming home ninth was pretty decent,\u201d Liddell said. \u201cFrank had a very solid stint. Once again, he did exactly what we asked him to. We knew it would be very difficult with the TCR cars, and it was a bit of carnage at the start, but he avoided it and drove a good race for the team. We had a small issue right at the end that cost me one position but overall this was the kind of weekend we\u2019ve been looking to have. We are heading to some tracks where we\u2019ve been strong so this is a good way to build some momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the Rebel Rock Racing Urban Grid Camaro has historically struggled at Mid-Ohio, the upcoming races on the tour should be more favorable to the team. Next up is Watkins Glen International on Saturday, June 25, with the running of the Tioga Downs Casino Resort 120.<\/p>\n
