{"id":4838,"date":"2022-07-11T16:22:25","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T20:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=4838"},"modified":"2023-05-03T15:58:40","modified_gmt":"2023-05-03T19:58:40","slug":"rebel-rock-racing-taking-momentum-proven-camaro-to-lime-rock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2022\/07\/11\/rebel-rock-racing-taking-momentum-proven-camaro-to-lime-rock\/","title":{"rendered":"Rebel Rock Racing taking momentum, proven Camaro to Lime Rock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LAKEVILLE, CT (11 July 2022)<\/strong> \u2013 <span class=\"il\">Rebel<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span>Racing has momentum on its side when it returns to Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span> Park for Saturday\u2019s Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span> Park 120, Round 7 of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Frank PePew and Robin Liddell are coming off back-to-back fourth-place finishes in the recent races at Watkins Glen International and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and are running at a circuit that plays to the strengths of their No. 71 Urban Grid Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we should have a good chance at Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span>,\u201d Liddell said. \u201cThe Camaro should be competitive there, and we\u2019ve had success there in the past. I think it\u2019s a track that suits the car. We\u2019ve been quite competitive the last two races. Obviously, it\u2019s disappointing not to get on the podium, but I think this weekend if we execute well and Frank continues to do his bit, there\u2019s no reason why we shouldn\u2019t challenge for a podium \u2013 or even for the win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DePew had one of his best career outings at the circuit once known as Mosport Park earlier in July. The team elected to have him pit during an early caution flag during the two-hour race. DePew then pushed past the minimum drive time to pit at the midway point, enabling Liddell to take over and race to the finish without needing another stop.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/32ec_pT4tbUEbJ2vJaNsxL4VouyATVrrsJPdZMN0uD1EtSsv4xlKjy3Xe96ek6SVPaMbCJzRg64-n-N71rEOHMOnm5gvhDVV6bszecxJAc5LlQxXxwOxzF573lNuphuhCUIBWe2JJvAZgof0zre4b7Yme4aQ90M=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/064b49df-a3f6-636c-0b4b-7916580824fc.jpeg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" align=\"left\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>\u201cI think we performed really well at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and my pace was reasonable,\u201d DePew said. \u201cI\u2019m happy, and yet I\u2019m disappointed, with the results of our last two races. I think we had an opportunity to win at Watkins Glen, but we had a little miscommunication, because if I stayed out longer, we could have done the race with one less stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DePew has only one start at Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span>. Last year, he was running 17th 30 laps into the race when an off-course excursion at the 1.5-mile circuit\u2019s lone left-hand turn led to an early retirement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m definitely excited about the Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span> race,\u201d DePew said. \u201cI think I understand the track pretty well and I\u2019m hoping to get up to speed quickly. The Camaro is good at Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span> Park, and I think we\u2019ve got a good chance at a podium finish. Last year was the first time I raced there. I need to be better in qualifying. Right now, I\u2019m racing a second-plus faster a lap than when I qualify and that needs to change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/9V3VYtHdcKjmGz2LQvEQeDx0UubhRr2Z4sKKBuVy-pTvxXCFcl9wAabRxHC-3SACojRSlbfIh2jK9-0-SdJox3ap7UYFPF1AJV5vEtG0RUioJxof4jG35brojOBE3_vkx7_OXHUWjVvbuG3mgC4bAtSx20OP5rM=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/2581c38a-c2ac-cceb-5bba-d44ae1235991.jpeg\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" align=\"right\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>Liddell has enjoyed success at Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span> in Camaros in IMSA and Grand-Am. He won in 2017 with Stevenson Motorsports with the GT4.R, in addition to a pair of Grand-Am Rolex Series GT triumphs in 2011 and 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Camaro is quite compliant at Lime <span class=\"il\">Rock<\/span>,\u201d Liddell explained. \u201cIt\u2019s a bumpy little track with a lot of undulation, and the Camaro seems to handle the bumps quite well there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The weekend opens with a pair of one-hour practice sessions on Friday at 10:05 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. (all times ET). GS qualifying begins at 5:05 p.m. on Friday.
