Watkins Glen, NY<\/strong> (19 June 2023) \u2013 Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) heads to Watkins Glen International – the site of two victories for the team – for the third round of IMSA endurance racing – the Sahlen\u2019s Six Hours of The Glen on Sunday (10:30am ET, Peacock, SiriusXM Ch. 207).<\/p>\n

\"\"The event will reach new heights this year with the largest entry list ever at Watkins Glen International with 57 entries set to take the green flag on Sunday.<\/p>\n

MSR has a score to settle with Watkins Glen International after finishing second in the 2022 Sahlen\u2019s Six Hours of The Glen by a mere 0.861-seconds following a dominating performance. The team looks to do one better this weekend in the traditional IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event.<\/p>\n

MSR now fields a new hybrid-powered Acura LMDh in the revitalized IMSA GTP category, with Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun co-driving the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06.<\/p>\n

Last year, the Blomqvist captured the pole for MSR after leading both practices and the warm-up, and then dominated the race. MSR led 78 laps and ran no lower than second in an event that was slowed by several caution periods and a red flag for weather. The result was the team\u2019s fourth of five-consecutive runner-up finishes that carried MSR to the DPi championship.<\/p>\n

MSR carries two wins (2017 & 2019) and three pole positions at Watkins Glen racing in the GTD category with the Acura NSX GT3. Both victories were won from the pole position after a dominating six hour performance. MSR has yet to win overall at The Glen but has collected a podium finish in 2016 with the team\u2019s Daytona Prototype.<\/p>\n

In addition to last year\u2019s race, Blomqvist also competed in two IMSA events in the GLTM class, finishing eighth in 2018 and seventh in 2019.<\/p>\n

Braun is coming off of am LMP2 Pro-Am class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and double wins at VIR this past weekend as he now hopes to bring that momentum to the Acura LMDh.<\/p>\n

\"\"Braun most recently finished second in LMP3 in last year\u2019s Six Hours. He ran nine WeatherTech Championship races at the circuit, winning from the pole in 2014 and also leading qualifying in 2015. In addition to his victory, he finished second three times and third once for five career podiums. The Texan also ran in six Grand-Am races in the Daytona Prototype class, finishing fifth in 2007. His WGI credits also include a NASCAR Xfinity race.<\/p>\n

Practice begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m. (all times ET), with GTP qualifying Saturday at 2:10 p.m. The race takes the green flag on Sunday at 10:40 a.m., and\u00a0 will be streamed live on Peacock. The USA Network will pick up live coverage from 2-5 p.m. SiriusXM will broadcast live on Channel 207.<\/p>\n

\u201cWatkins is definitely one of the highlight races of the season. It\u2019s such a fantastic track and its so much fun to drive. Last year we had a fantastic car, qualified on the pole and unfortunately we just missed out on the win. But it\u2019s a place I really enjoy driving at. It\u2019s going to be a jam packed race with a full field and I think it\u2019s going to be super difficult with all the traffic. We\u2019re quicker in different parts of the track this year with the new GTP cars, so it\u2019s going to be a challenge. The ARX-06 has been fantastic for us all season long, so I think it\u2019s going to be a great track for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWatkins Glen is one of the best tracks on the schedule, I think it will suit our Acura GTP car really well with the fast and flowing corners.
