(19\u00a0Sept. 2023) \u2013 The Racing to End Alzheimer&#8217;s team continued its podium streak with a pair of second place finishes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Mark Kvamme in the\u00a0No. 43 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, who continues to lead the Am class of the\u00a0Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America with two weekends remaining.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kvamme has placed on the podium in all 12 races this season, extending an 18-race streak that began with the final six races of his 2022 championship campaign.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cRacing at Indianapolis is amazing,\u201d Kvamme said. \u201cIt\u2019s such an historic place, and it\u2019s a lot of fun to drive here. Now, I\u2019m looking forward to watching the IMSA WeatherTech Championship race. I\u2019m a race junkie, and I get to do it all here. I get to play in it, and I get to see it. Kvamme\u2019s teammate Scott Noble, who won both races, has joined the team as well, carrying a R2EndAlz decal to aid the cause \u2013 which hit a milestone this weekend.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;For a racing nerd like me, being here is special in itself,\u201d said Frengs. \u201cAnd for us to have a double podium, in both races. Congratulations to Scott, he\u2019s been terrific lately and Mark was just hanging in there trying to catch him. But we are very pleased.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve met last year&#8217;s total for names on the car, and funds raised, and <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/Q0-xr02r57ujgNnJrK8poJFCJjLFuTtrYFg5dAb1EGGTg1EHaKuobjMSiiPwtepzewX9_aTN4LzEIUrVTQYiEoZAkuRE4n6yUcgWdV5jMXEtpwbCdAlgmdczKw9siQ2WGFe01nRrxmprCHoks09SUNCYhdy1JQ=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/b4a5f4c7-b4aa-0315-1d68-2bd598a286c4.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"right\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>we still have two races to go,\u201d continued Frengs. \u201cSo we really feel like we are on our road to 200 or more, which was our goal at the beginning of the season. We are happy to see it being reached.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kvamme unofficially maintains a 17-point advantage in the Am standings with a pair of two-race weekends remaining over MDK Racing teammate Scott Noble, who won both weekend races. Kvamme was able to cut the gap on Noble in the closing minutes of the Sunday event, ending up 2.148 seconds behind at the checkered flag.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cScott is the new sheriff in town,\u201d Kvamme said of his teammate following Sunday\u2019s race. \u201cI\u2019m having a hard time trying to catch him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Throughout the weekend, the Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s team was chasing better grip on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile circuit that uses a portion of the 2.5-mile oval that hosts the Indy 500.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/ZjqM_A8bz_aUlk3qJy_o0t2kYXCqbyRpR78ZqUzL-avZnco691Pl8gA6ip4lxeO2twGsDWmYH3t2s07oKVDrFVqPXEFMg-AVE0p1Xots9KU1rhrRwUgXssBtZgfeMBCZkvmVzgTD-t42ZgAIXRTmos9g3F85gA=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/db367fea-039e-4738-202a-1519c5b3f32f.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"left\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>\u201cTraction here has been really tough,\u201d Kvamme said after qualifying second for Saturday\u2019s opening round. \u201cWe were trying to figure out the right setup, and I ended up going very soft in the front to get more turn-in, because the understeer was amazing. But as you get softer, you get oversteer, so it\u2019s an interesting balance between the two. The setup for my car was a lot softer than my teammates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Race 1 saw Kvamme gain four positions on the overall field but found himself two positions behind Noble. Over the closing laps, Kvamme raced hard to maintain second, and was able to hold that position by one second. He placed 23rd\u00a0overall, one place behind his teammate.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Sunday morning finale quickly went under yellow for a multicar incident in Turn 1. After a slowdown of nearly 18 minutes, Kvamme was 17th\u00a0overall, two seconds behind Noble. He closed the gap to under two seconds in the final minutes \u2013 while also defending his second-place position in the class \u2013 but could get no closer.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI drove much better today,\u201d Kvamme said. \u201cI\u2019m much happier with my <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/OSwRP_CzDPvypR-USZGrJiidPeWyz0BgXkMzQQf_WH4EFfs809eTHQMfyoWdi8zOAdZs6bLc3Onip4F5z1D-MInQ-eGE8iFU-QtrgS5IJpdIgcoDZdVPgPM75TMkhqC3lNHL8mlG6SwTRF_AtJCbzv15unqBCg=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/3a68b7b5-faa1-9ae1-8d13-f5f30c897d11.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"right\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>drive today. Yesterday, I couldn\u2019t really figure it out. I was a couple of seconds behind him. On the end part of the course, I was actually faster than him on each lap, but overall, he had me. Today we were 17th\u00a0overall \u2013 that\u2019s pretty good. It was crazy out there!\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Next up for the Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s team and the Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America will be the doubleheader in support of the Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca September 29 \u2013 October 1.
