The NNAC was established by legendary sportscaster Jim Nantz in 2011, to honor his father, who passed away from the disease in 2008.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Racing to End Alzheimer&#8217;s mission is to increase awareness of this terrible disease while giving families a way to honor their loved ones in a very tangible way \u2013 and raising funds for research and treatment.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The team carries 186 names on the No. 43 Porsche 992 Cup Car driven by Mark Kvamme.\u00a0 For a $250 donation, a loved one\u2019s name is placed on the car as it races across the United States (<a href=\"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c&amp;id=b9206c4596&amp;e=99876ef132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/sundaymanagement.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3Da33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c%26id%3Db9206c4596%26e%3D99876ef132&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1697637260850000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0Vlmbi4SYQICxrKOLeVhNH\">https:\/\/www.r2endalz.org<\/a>), with 100% of the donations matched, and shared between the team\u2019s two beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/6a5wEefaPmlHo0Z6uZC2oesiyu-mF5TJLtiVJrvh5rpnoV6MrUICfOdVYIYmOIWmYdohlOttpGE-ffkQVHTkfO8c63BPIWVoz5l4SxfEZiwHPyl25nbCDgjaWoyTsMpHg5bzvo4tNCNezJRtAkqcNQr9_Sn6cw=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/8752631c-c90e-be6e-02cb-f918e3d3b402.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"right\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>Since 2017, Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s has donated over $425,000 to the NNAC to assist vital research.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The NNAC has become a world-renowned research and referral center, dedicated to improving the quality of life for every patient by slowing memory-loss progression, and, one day, preventing the disease. The center is vigorously pursuing research and has made significant contributions toward identifying new medications aimed at delaying or stopping the progression of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease \u2013 which is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. We are looking at other approaches, such as building up a brain antioxidant and modifying brain inflammation. For people who are completely normal but at risk of getting Alzheimer because they have a family history of the disease, we are finding out whether they have a buildup of the beta amyloid protein and if so, giving them a medication already shown to reduce amyloid plaque.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe could not do the groundbreaking research we do without the support of initiatives like Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With six Am class wins from 14 races so far this season \u2013 and podiums in all 14 \u2013 Kvamme heads to the season finale with a great deal of momentum. Race one takes the green flag Saturday at 3:10 p.m. EDT, with race two Sunday at 11:50 a.m. EDT.
