{"id":6796,"date":"2024-02-28T13:46:56","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T18:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/?p=6796"},"modified":"2024-02-28T13:46:56","modified_gmt":"2024-02-28T18:46:56","slug":"racing-to-end-alzheimers-to-be-represented-in-the-porsche-owners-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/28\/racing-to-end-alzheimers-to-be-represented-in-the-porsche-owners-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s to be represented in the Porsche Owners Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>The organization now recognized as a series partner, with one of the Porsche race cars utilizing the familiar purple and yellow Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s livery<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">LOS ANGELES (28 February\u00a02024) \u2013 The Racing to End Alzheimer&#8217;s team branches out to a new series in 2024, partnering with racer Karen Robinson to rebrand her Porsche Spec Boxster with the familiar purple and yellow paint scheme in the Porsche Owners Club\u2019s (POC) racing series.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Robinson is a longtime friend of Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s founder Phil Frengs and his wife Mimi, whose diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer\u2019s in 2013 was the inspiration for the program. Since 2017, when the familiar \u201cnames\u201d livery first appeared, Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s has raised over $1 million for their beneficiary organizations \u2013 $254,000 in 2023 alone. Every <a href=\"https:\/\/sundaymanagement.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c&amp;id=28a7855203&amp;e=99876ef132\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/sundaymanagement.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3Da33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c%26id%3D28a7855203%26e%3D99876ef132&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1709218856332000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1xh9jUDICfrGUBtEGiUULg\">donation of $250<\/a> (which puts the name of a loved one who has suffered from dementia or Alzheimer&#8217;s on the race car) is matched by Frengs\u2019 company Legistics, and every dollar goes to \u201cfund the care and find the cure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis is a great new program for us,\u201d said Frengs. \u201cKaren is so enthusiastic about it, as is everyone we\u2019ve met from the POC.\u00a0 They\u2019re excited to help us bring the Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s to their events. It\u2019s a great chance to reach a new audience and to encourage more people to join us by putting their own family or friends\u2019 names on her car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/meips\/ADKq_Naxyl2pm95c4bG5Sthlgc2XOiWLsifh5InYOyeMj4JDBiS87lnNfkQjtbVD_COG5YyfS87kKUz4pDmPYvdv_7rbdYxb-IESKTtk-9VgOqFbgxVP6lshufquQUlMhw5VYsGZT1kAHb84zmNPROjMBNzn3uanbzfiVjc=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/4e60e265-5f73-3e7f-b797-566419b802f4.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"227\" align=\"right\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>Robinson\u2019s No. 346 Porsche Boxster will carry the Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s logo, with room on the rear decklid to add the loved ones of POC members. Those names will also appear on the Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s No. 43 Porsche Carrera Cup car.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The POC conducts race events at a variety of tracks throughout the West Coast, including Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Spring Mountain (Nevada), Sonoma, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. Robinson has been a regular since she bought her first Porsche in 2016, balancing her work as a commercial lending and small business lender with her racing program.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cLast year was my fourth year of racing the car competitively,\u201d said Robinson, who carried the No. 1 last year as the member with the highest number of volunteer hours. \u201cIt\u2019s cool that all of us can have our regular lives and then, on the weekends, go and do this other thing that is so opposite of what we do for a living. We often talk about it, in that the complete focus that&#8217;s required when you&#8217;re racing pushes anything that you&#8217;ve got in your brain away \u2013 which is both intense and relaxing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/meips\/ADKq_Nan6NDmlt0cuPuuF502coTScM59yG1c769RuDHXs5ZooK9U9hQcqx8PdB4uubiZv3QY2Ty1qtMb1p7QFwWE_AXKppN3AX7Jk4OpMg5IymHMPnNhMtMu7OmIPRtjJ_eWq8HTNNG3Ui8hf8SpnxKooSWfTlCJ61zKQfI=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/5c8844ce-f67a-7266-8c34-67a43eb0557a.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"307\" align=\"left\" data-bit=\"iit\" \/>Robinson and her late husband Mark first met the Frengses close to 40 years ago, when Mark took over graphic design work for Legistics. The quartet became good friends, with the Robinsons supporting Phil after Mimi\u2019s diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer\u2019s in 2013.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe irony is \u2013 her brain and her mind were so sharp,\u201d Robinson remembers. \u201cShe had a wicked sense of humor, I just loved being around her positive energy. I am grateful that we had a chance to get to know each other before she got sick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Seeing the impact that Racing to End Alzheimer\u2019s has had over the years, Robinson decided to make her own contribution in 2024, connecting the POC with Frengs and helping to bring on the organization as a POC partner.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI felt that there was a connection here, between the POC members and the chance for advocacy,\u201d said Robinson. \u201cThere&#8217;s a way that we can help our club members to raise awareness and to help raise funds. I thought it was a great match for the club and our club president, John Momeyer, agreed.
