With the rust properly shaken off, he then went on to score a Gold Class victory\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1792536151\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Saturday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0with a dominating run out front in Race 2.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci5.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/qpmEeOE3eMJJLGmRC_PYFb2lKfo5qTO-h9xfH7ALUwqwQh5exF7Dre8cjl3IlAy4ytc14zECCzKRN02ORvOEdntTc_Y3ZLMTbHJyC99AD0aaQLziTeoDc_OQ9VE8ckewsZ0LXuR52Qb5hrD3jcIfOoGmCKI0q6RI-zdg9EgBS61Dhyo=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/_compresseds\/ef91ab75-7678-4f99-9787-74d54906eee6.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"165\" align=\"left\" \/>\u201cThat was a battle, from dead last!\u201d enthused Ducote after clawing back from a tough start. \u201cIt\u2019s been almost a year since I\u2019ve raced,\u00a0so I was worried about knocking the rust off. But I was able to put things together pretty quickly, and Kelly-Moss really did a good job with the setup of the car. I felt confident coming into the weekend and today, I just wanted to drive consistently and conservatively, stay out of the melee of the Platinum Cup cars, and keep it clean. But with a\u00a0focus on points and championship battles, the KMR drivers persevered to the finish.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci4.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/Ixyzup8Qi9e8C03_VzKac1H0vknj-_I-sFwNDp4wfU2idsNTL-JwY0lvQTFtZPcOrdrfb-N7Cxp8JlV5obT-0YcNFTz5JDpLW4ELGVMjNFjwUuqUT3wGF9aYPGfFeqdnxiUJVNEtdRYxDtFPlG383S_gHPucJsb9Oihhaaimfjj0S1o=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/_compresseds\/c6421a20-7a39-499c-a464-6808dc974ccd.jpg\" width=\"275\" height=\"196\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tom Haacker scored second in Platinum Masters in the Monster Digital machine\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1792536152\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Friday<\/span><\/span>, with Indianapolis\u2019 Kurt Fazekas taking sixth in the Gold class. Greg Palmer netted a top-10 in his first ever COTA event in IMSA competition, and then continued his progress with sixth place in the Gold Class\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1792536153\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Saturday<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the Gold Cup class drivers was trying to put me between himself and his competition, so I got slowed up and punted,\u201d said Haacker of his second race outing of the weekend. \u201cSo it was an interesting race, but I am disappointed in how it turned out.\u00a0Hopefully we can have a little bit more luck next time. I\u2019m still learning how to get the speed out of this car and I made a lot of progress this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a little bit of a battle but I slowly progressed up through the field, said Fazekas. \u201cAfter the hit that bent the left rear wheel, I had a wobble, which meant I couldn\u2019t stay on the power through the right handers \u2013 the car wanted to skip around. I still need to work on my starts\u2014it is my \u201crookie issue!\u201d I\u2019m just continuing to work on my consistency with lap times and the guys are happy that the times are very consistent, within a half a second each time it\u2019s fun. Then when it stops, you want more! I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next up for the IMSA effort will be the race at Watkins Glen International \u00a0(<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1792536154\"><span class=\"aQJ\">June 30-July 2<\/span><\/span>), and KMR will head home to Madison, Wisconsin and begin preparations for another strong outing in just over a month\u2019s time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis weekend didn\u2019t go exactly as we had hoped, but we had some great highlights with David (Ducote) scoring the Gold Class win\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1792536155\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Saturday<\/span><\/span>,\u201d said team owner Jeff Stone. \u201cWe were also very pleased to have our new programs with Vulcan and Droptine get off to this kind of start with a win for David.
