DERBYSHIRE, England (3\u00a0Sept. 2024) \u2013 Rested from a five-week summer break, Colin Queen resumes his GB3 Partnered by the BRDC campaign this weekend with three races at Donington Park.<\/p>\n
The 19-year-old Floridian backed by ONE Sotheby\u2019s International Realty will pilot the No. 62 fielded by Fortec Motorsports in the penultimate round of the season racing in Great Britain\u2019s highest open-wheel series.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a month of down time, and it was nice to disconnect from racing for a couple of weeks,\u201d Queen said. \u201cNow, it\u2019s right back to the grind for this weekend. We\u2019re looking strong and I feel very confident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main thing this season has been qualifying,\u201d Colin added. \u201cWhen we got that dialed in, we\u2019ll be good, because our race pace is really, really good, and it shows in the results with all the places I\u2019ve gained in the races. It\u2019s a process that takes time, and I\u2019m getting better every single round.\u201d<\/p>\n
Queen set the GB4 lap record in last year\u2019s race at Donington, en route to placing fourth in the championship. He podiumed in all three of the weekend\u2019s races.<\/p>\n
\u201cDonington\u2019s a strong track,\u201d he said. \u201cI love the track. I also held the track record there in Formula Ford in addition to GB4. I know the track really well, and I think we\u2019ll do well there as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n
It will be a busy event on and off the track for Colin, who will host a fundraising event in conjunction with the races in collaboration with GB3 and the British Heart Foundation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will be a decent-sized event, with a lot of good presence at the circuit,\u201d Queen said. \u201cIt will include a raffle for a lucky fan who will get the thrill of waving the checkered flag for our race.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coming off a challenging event at Silverstone, Queen is now 14th\u00a0in the championship standings, only 25 points out of the top-10.<\/p>\n
Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 5:20 a.m. (all times ET), with the session affecting the grid for all three races. Saturday\u2019s opening 20-minute race at 10 a.m. will start the cars in order of their qualifying times, with Sunday morning\u2019s second 20-minute race at 6:12 a.m. using their second-fastest times. Sunday\u2019s 25-minute finale at 9:20 a.m. inverts the top-12 qualifiers, with cars getting bonus points for positions improved. All races are streamed live free of charge on YouTube.<\/p>\n
The GB3 season comes to a close with three races at Brands Hatch, another historic British circuit, on Sept. 28-29.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
