19-year-old had strong test at British Circuit, coming off two 8th-place finishes<\/em><\/p>\n

WEST KINGSDOWN, England \u2013 (23 September 2024) \u2013 Colin Queen is set to wrap up his rookie season in the GB3 Partnered by the BRDC with three races at historic Brands Hatch this weekend.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old Floridian is coming off back-to-back eighth-place finishes at Donington, giving him nine top-10 results for the campaign.<\/p>\n

The ONE Sotheby\u2019s International Realty-backed driver of the No. 62 fielded by Fortec Motorsports actually took the checkered flag for the finale in third position, but lost out on the podium due to a late penalty for exceeding track limits.<\/p>\n

Known as \u201cBritain\u2019s Best-Loved Motor Racing Circuit,\u201d the 2.4-mile Brands Hatch layout hosted 12 Formula One Grands Prix between 1964 and 1986.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love this track,\u201d Queen said. \u201cWe were really quick in testing there at the beginning of the season. I know how to piece everything together, and I think it will be a really big weekend. We\u2019ve been put together a lot of good results as of late, if everything comes together we\u2019ll be up on the podium.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really confident heading into the weekend, and the team is, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queen raced at Brands Hatch in GB4 last year, when he placed placing second twice and fourth over the three-race weekend. He went on to take fourth in the championship. He also raced Formula Fords on the 1.2-mile Indy layout with success.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a good test on the GP circuit earlier this year,\u201d he said. \u201cI just need to work out a few more things, and I\u2019m focusing on that with my training. I should be pretty much dialed in once we get there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queen is 13th in the standings entering the eighth and final weekend of his rookie season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish there were a couple more rounds,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s been such a big learning curve, coming from GB4 to this, and I\u2019ve learned so much. I think I\u2019ve progressed very, very well over the second half of the season. If I were to come back and do this again next year, we\u2019d be fighting for some really good positions. But it\u2019s still too early to talk about next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning at 6:40 a.m. (all times ET), with the session setting the grid for all three races. Saturday\u2019s opening 20-minute race at 9:50 a.m. will start the cars in order of their qualifying times, with Sunday morning\u2019s second 20-minute race at 6:30 a.m. using their second-fastest times. Sunday\u2019s 25-minute finale at 9:45 a.m. inverts the top-12 qualifiers, with cars getting bonus points for positions improved.
