Fuji, Japan (4 December 2017) – This past weekend, after four hours of\u00a0hard fought racing at Fuji International Speedway, Guy Cosmo and\u00a0Patrick Byrne battled forward from fifth place in the early stages of\u00a0the 4 hour race to score a breakthrough LMP3 victory for Jackie Chan\u00a0DC Racing x Jota Sport.<\/p>\n
The race win moved the two American racers to the top of the\u00a0provisional LMP3 point standings after Round 2 of the Asian Le Mans Series.<\/p>\n
Strong pace and some great racecraft from Byrne saw the No. 6 Ligier\u00a0LMP3 move up from fifth to second during his opening stint in the
\nthree-class field.<\/p>\n

Returning to the fray after a well-executed pit stop, Cosmo jumped in\u00a0and made a big move under braking to take the lead and then never\u00a0looked back. Despite enduring an exhaust leak and a small issue with\u00a0his tires, Cosmo set his focus on breaking away from the pack and\u00a0created an incredible 60-second lead over second place.<\/p>\n
Once the gap was established, the Cosmo and Byrne entry continued to\u00a0grow its advantage, scoring the victory by multiple laps to bring\u00a0Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport team a sweep of the event as the\u00a0sister entry took the overall race victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe car was hooked up and it’s really satisfying to travel this far,\u00a0be in a new country, learn a new race track and be as competitive as\u00a0we were pushing us to take home the win,\u201d said Cosmo. “For me it was a\u00a0really great day. We battled through some issues at the end but really\u00a0it was a flawless race. Patrick (Byrne) did an amazing job and we had\u00a0an excellent execution for the pit stops and the strategy. It’s even\u00a0more exciting to be leading the championship and it gives us a lot of\u00a0momentum going into the next two rounds.”<\/p>\n
This Asian Le Mans Series win marks the first professional victory for\u00a0Byrne following a continued development as he now eagerly looks\u00a0forward to adding to his burgeoning racing resume.<\/p>\n

“It was a phenomenal race and great teamwork by both Guy (Cosmo) and I\u00a0working together with the team on a survival strategy,” said Byrne\u00a0.”The tires pressures were an issue but other than that we were able\u00a0to keep the car under us. It was a huge win and we really needed that\u00a0for the team. This was my first true international pro win – I’ve won\u00a0a lot of races before but never in a high-profile pro series. It felt

Cosmo and Byrne will return Asian Le Mans series competition in the\u00a0points lead as the duo will look to make it back on the top of the\u00a0podium as the second half of the season gets underway at Biriram,\u00a0Thailand on January 11-13.<\/p>\n
