The car will compete this weekend at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the SVRA weekend – with inaugural Aspiring Driver Henry Drury making his series debut.

The partnership with Ginetta is especially meaningful to PT Autosport’s head of driver development (and the team’s lead driver, currently in the GT World Challenge America presented by AWS) Alex Sedgwick. Sedgwick won the Ginetta Junior scholarship in 2013 at the age of 14, a turning point in his young career, and he went on to finish 10th in the Ginetta Junior Championship the following year. Sedgwick kept in contact with Ginetta UK and later Ginetta North America, opening the door to collaboration possibilities.

“I’ve always kept up to speed with what Ginetta was doing,” said Sedgwick. “We’d been looking to change the race car platform for our Aspiring Driver Shootout cars and with Ginetta’s background, it seemed like a good fit – they’re known for supporting young drivers, with their three series in Europe (the Ginetta Junior Championship, the Ginetta GT Academy, and the Ginetta GT Championship) and the Ginetta Challenge NA here. Not only does it open another avenue for the PT Autosport junior drivers, but utilizing a modern, purpose-built race car elevates the entire Shootout program. This will improve on-track safety for our drivers and coaches and give us more tools to use to assess our candidates, given the Ginetta’s built-in data systems. It will also level the playing field when we have drivers who have competed in past Shootouts. And lastly, the G56 GTA more closely resembles the GT categories these drivers aspire to race in one day which makes the experience more relevant for both the junior drivers and the Shootout candidates.”

PT Autosport’s new Ginetta G56 GTA will see its first action with Drury at Indianapolis, while Ginetta North America will provide the two G56 GTAs that will be utilized at NJMP for the Shootout. Management at both PT Autosport and Ginetta look forward to the start of what they hope will be a long-term relationship.

“I’m really excited about partnering with Ginetta,” said Jason Myers, PT Autosport team principal. “It’s where Alex cut his teeth and had his first car racing experience after winning the UK national karting championship and then competing in the Ginetta Shootout. We’re really looking forward to using their cars as our platform for the Shootout contenders – I think it takes it up a notch in terms of performance and safety, along with giving us a better baseline between all the competitors. We’ll also be competing in the Ginetta Challenge North America this year and next, so stay tuned!”

“At Ginetta, we believe in developing talent from the ground up, and are thrilled that PT Autosport has chosen the G56 GTA for their exciting program,” said Baer Connard, Brand Director, Ginetta North America. “The Aspiring Driver Shootout is an exciting initiative that aligns perfectly with our ethos of nurturing the next generation of racers. We’re proud to provide purpose-built, race-proven G56 GTAs that offer an ideal platform for learning, competition, and growth. We look forward to watching this program – and its drivers – accelerate toward success.”

Livery design courtesy Luke Dobie / Big Trouble Creative

A separate Ginetta G56 GTA will race with PT Autosport colors this weekend, with 2022 Aspiring Driver Shootout winner Henry Drury behind the wheel Millville, NJ […]

[19,65

post-8257","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-pt-autosport
["GET
