(25 January 2018) \u2013\u00a0 After debuting the Acura NSX GT3 in IMSA WeatherTech competition in 2017 at the Rolex 24 At Daytona,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span><span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>\u00a0is building on the progress the team made last year as the squad prepares for the 2018 IMSA season with the incredible GTD class machines.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignleft\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci3.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/StJ6pPDjEYMXpOuYrZp4FTmYDFCoUgjzlL6fNOc-LouyGuP1KblXPSYAtXpL5fi6RZH7YA7C9ezaovZKgmjm6KVZncraUz3Uc4C6fus_4MNm3Ns-3WabA1PTRTYJ153IPourQgaD1VzMpdUrkle1_OF2hw369gXxYw6g7q0=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/ce6f8b42-b737-4c5a-b70b-0009a960d0cc.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>That development was on display\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_838875078\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Thursday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0as the first official laps were clocked ahead of\u00a0Saturday\u2019s\u00a0Rolex 24 at Daytona with a pair of practice sessions and qualifying.<\/p>\n<p>After securing the fastest time in the second practice session and showing continued balance and consistency,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>\u2019s two-car lineup secured seventh and 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0for the start of the 24-hour endurance classic.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 93\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>\u00a0Acura NSX GT3 \u2013 piloted by Lawson Aschenbach, Justin Marks, Mario Farnbacher and C\u00f4me\u00a0Ledogar \u2013 and the No. 86\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>\u00a0Acura NSX GT3\u2013 driven by Katherine Legge, Alvaro Parente, Trent Hindman and AJ Allmendinger \u2013 logged a combined total of 85 hot laps on track before embarking on the weekend\u2019s qualifying run.<\/p>\n<p>Parente put the No. 86 in a comfortable position ahead of qualifying after he topped the second practice session with a fast lap time of 1:46.790-second, three tenths ahead of second. As the 15-minute session commenced, Parente was set to qualify the No. 86\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>\u00a0Acura NSX GT3 while Frenchman, Ledogar led the No. 93\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Michael<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Racing<\/span>\u00a0Acura NSX GT3 into qualifying.<\/p>\n<p>Parente posted consistent laps throughout the session as the balance of the Honda powered machine was on point, allowing him to place the No. 86 machine in seventh with a 1:47.251 lap time as heavy winds blanketed the track.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got the maximum out of the car balance-wise,\u201d said Parente. \u201cThe lap maybe wasn\u2019t as perfect as in practice, but I also think I was luckier with the winds to get that fast lap. I am happy with the balance of the car and I felt like I put a good lap together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"CToWUd a6T alignright\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/ci6.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/j7XzEjkqN6pjFanrYe_LeHn6zx7yrYqlN7XyGBtM2ZTtZhN_Nm4PStne6-IxvUNqvE22-6SBeJHeSi6DGBDZvejooMENN7Qn3Bwu5R-rveXXcFHRTzb6DWJNskJOkjEiFQvpfZbrreWwsZUqhaA1WC8XGhAGSjHM5GIXpGE=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/a33ba08d163385b4a77fabf6c\/images\/ef1785f0-776a-4eb2-8613-fd0e99d22510.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>After losing his hood in the early stages of the session, Ledogar persevered through the 15-minute run but made the most that he could with the lost aero advantage, resulting in a 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place qualifying position and posting a 1:48.239 for the start of the Rolex 24.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think qualifying went well for what we had to deal with,\u201d said Ledogar. \u201cObviously that (losing the hood) didn\u2019t help us in that moment and I felt like I had more to give during the session. The balance felt pretty good and I think we are prepared for the race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Team owner Mike\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>, was pleased with the results and knows that a long race is ahead of the team&#8217;s two-car lineup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything is going according to plan so far this weekend,\u201d said\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Shank<\/span>. \u201cWe always want to be at the front but we also know this race and what it can throw at you. We will just focus on getting the car ready for the race and go from there.
