Triple-Win Weekend for Kelly-Moss Road and Race at Road Atlanta

Braselton, Ga. (6 October 2017) – In addition to already clinching the 2017 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Championship with Jake Eidson at Sonoma Raceway earlier this year, Kelly-Moss Road and Race capped off the season at Road Atlanta with three more victories this weekend.

A championship title wasn’t enough for Eidson, as he added another victory to his list in Thursday’s first race of the weekend. He led from green to checkered flag through several restarts to take his seventh win of the year. Eidson scored the pole in Race 2 and took home the runner-up result on Eidson champagne 02Friday.

“It was good restart practice but it’s really tough because you are always trying to work hard to get the tires up to temperature,” said Eidson of Race 1 and the abundant caution periods. “That first lap is pretty difficult because the tires are kind of unpredictable. I am just over the moon for Kelly-Moss and Racing for Children for putting forth a lot of effort to make this all possible. It’s so great to be part of an organization that has so much success and these guys work so hard to give me a race car that can win every weekend. Getting this championship means so much to me and I am so thankful to have Kelly-Moss behind me.”

The final race of the season saw the return of KMR driver, David Ducote, in the Gold category. Ducote gave the Gold class young guns a run for their Ducote 05money as he claimed victory in both races. While it was a little more clear sailing in Race 1, Ducote had to defend hard in Race 2. Despite the Gold class championship leader Victor Gomez reeling in the No. 06 Porsche 911 of Decote in the final laps of the second race, Ducote’s masterful driving behind the wheel saw him hold on to take his second victory of the weekend.

“It feels awesome to give these guys two wins this weekend,” said Ducote. “I’ve been out of the car since March or April and I had an injury so I have been training hard to get ready to get back in the car. I really didn’t expect this kind of outcome so I am really pleased with it!”

Greg Palmer, driver of the No. 44 Copps Industries Gold class entry, had a successful debut season in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge which saw him Palmer 01improve throughout each event and score a season-best fifth place finish at VIR.

Palmer closed out the season at Road Atlanta with a sixth and eighth place result, respectively.

Kelly-Moss Road and Race team owner, Jeff Stone, reflected on all that has come of his team’s efforts all season long.

Ducote Stone“This has been a whole year full of awesome!” beamed Stone. “Everyone just killed it and it’s been amazing to have crazy (David) Ducote back with us. I feel really blessed to be here and pull off another win again today and to have so many championships. It’s a dream come true.”

Kelly-Moss Road and Race congratulates Jesse Lazare, who won the 2016 IMSA GT3 Cup championship with KMR, on his race victory in the final IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race of the season at Road Atlanta on Friday.
