Julia Wilson #riding4JWILL in Dempsey Challenge

Lewiston, Maine (27 September 2018) -This weekend will see hundreds of riders take to Lewiston, Maine to push themselves in the pursuit of helping others in the Dempsey Challenge.

The Dempsey Challenge presented by Amgen is a two-day, non-competitive run, walk, cycle fundraiser which champions the spirit of celebration and culture of paying it forward, all hosted in actor Patrick Dempsey’s hometown of Lewiston, Maine.  Every dollar raised by Challenge participants benefits the Dempsey Centers — leaders in Quality of Life care for individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Among those riding will be Julia Wilson as she returns for her fourth run in the event and will target the 50-mile bike loop.

The mother of two daughters will ride on the #riding4JWILL team in celebration of her late husband, IndyCar driver Justin Wilson, with whom she had committed to ride in the 2015 Dempsey Challenge. Despite losing him in an August, 2015 accident at Pocono Raceway, she maintained her commitment to ride in 2015 and returns again this year to raise funds for Dempsey Centers.

“It really is a long ride, but it is so gratifying to make it to the end. Knowing that you are helping others is a good mental push to keep going when it is tough!” said Wilson. “I first did this in 2015 and it’s a big motivator all year long to be prepared for this so hopefully we can have another good ride this weekend.”
