Heinricher Racing and Caterpillar Close Out First All-Female IMSA Season at Road Atlanta

Pataskala, Ohio (8 October 2019) – Heinricher Racing heads to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to mark the close of the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with the Motul Petit Le Mans (October 12, 12:00pm ET NBC).

The all-female lineup of Katherine Legge, Christina Nielsen and Bia Figueiredo will again team up to tackle the 10-hour endurance classic.

The finale event is Legge’s home race as she hopes to follow up her podium finish from 2018. Legge finished second in the 2018 edition of the Motul Petit Le Mans, leaving her only four points shy of the overall driver’s championship after a very strong season.

Nielsen also brings previous success at the event, starting on pole in 2014 and 2017 as well as a podium finish in 2016. The 2.54-mile course is also the site where Nielsen became the first woman to win a major sports car championship in North America after taking the GTD championship in 2016.

Continuing to expand her track roster, Figueiredo will make her first start at Road Atlanta, but has been preparing through simulator work.

All 10 hours of racing can be viewed live starting at 12:00PM ET on NBC on Saturday, October 12th.

Team Quotes:

Jackie Heinricher:
“Petit Le Mans is where we began our journey in 2018 with the announcement of this history-making team. It’s fitting we complete our season here with the extraordinary line-up of Katherine Legge, Bia Figueiredo and Christina Nielsen challenging for the podium. I look forward to seeing my team of talented drivers—the top women in the world of racing—take the wheel of the No. 57 Caterpillar Acura for the last race of the championship. 2019 has been an amazing year with incredible support from our fans and the racing community. We are proud to be the first professional women’s team to compete for the coveted IMSA WeatherTech Championship!”

Katherine Legge:

“I’m looking forward to heading to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and getting all three of us back together again with Heinricher Racing—the first time since Watkins Glen. It’s my home race and one of the coolest tracks on the schedule. I love driving here. I have come close to victory on two occasions here, and this year we are looking for redemption here.”

Christina Nielsen:

“I’m super excited about Petit Le Mans. It was the first race that I ever drove in America and it’s probably my favorite still to this day. The track is unique in its own ways and it’s a classic old-school track with a really quick flow. We are all hoping to finish off the season strong with a podium.”

Bia Figueiredo:

“I’m looking forward to running the last race of the season with Katherine and Christina. It’s another track that I have never been to, but I’ve been in the simulator getting ready. I just can’t wait to have a great result with the Heinricher Racing team this weekend.”
