Negri Heads to Australia for Asian Le Mans

Tailem Bend, Australia (9 January 2020) – Ozz Negri heads down under for the second round of the Asian Le Mans Championship (ALMS) at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia this weekend.Negri, alongside teammates Francesco Piovanetti and Alessandro Pierguidi, will wheel the Spirit of Race No. 51 Ferrari 488 GT3 around the newest permanent race circuit in Australia. Boasting 7.7-kilometers of racing surface, the ALMS will be the first series the utilize the full configuration. The visit to The Bend will also mark the first time that the ACO-run series will compete in Australia.

The trio of teammates will make their sixth start together since joining forces for the 2018-2019 ALMS season. Opening the 2019-2020 season with a top five finish in the 4 Hours of Shanghai, the trio will look to build on that result in the second round of the four-race championship.

Having claimed victory at Utah Motorsports Campus in prototype competition, Negri is no stranger to a layout that features tight, technical corners and fast flowing sections like those  found at The Bend.

Taking the green flag in Tailem Bend will mark Negri’s first professional race in the country, having raced across Europe as well as in Brazil, Mexico, and North America.

“This is going to be a fun challenge for us this weekend with a new track and a new event, but we are looking forward to it,” said Negri. “We were a bit unlucky to start the year but we’ve got a great team behind us and we are ready for the weekend. It is a little bit hard to be racing when the country has so much on its mind with the fires going on, but we will just be focusing on our jobs and hopefully we can get back to the podium again this weekend.”

The weekend opens with Free Practice on January 10th with the marquee event, 4 Hours of The Bend, on January 12th.

The full 4 Hours of The Bend will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Australia and in the live streaming service Kayo Sports.
