Elkhart Lake, Wisc. (1 August 2020) – The fourth round of IMSA action brought the series to one of the longest tracks in North America — the 4.048-mile road course at Road America. Misha Goikhberg drove the No. 57 Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 to eighth in Saturday’s qualifying session.
The IMSA Sportscar Weekend sees Goikhberg and Alvaro Parente continuing their shared duties behind the wheel of the Heinricher Racing Acura. The pair worked hard with the team to improve the car’s setup during two practice sessions ahead of qualifying.
The racetrack saw near perfect conditions for the 15-minute qualifying run, which saw Goikhberg post several one-lap flyers. The session concluded with Goikhberg posting a 2:08.118-second lap, placing him eighth in the GTD order.
Goikhberg has raced countless laps around Road America, but Saturday marked his first time driving the Acura NSX GT3 on the lengthy Wisconsin circuit.
“Qualifying today was very tight and we lacked the overall pace to get into the top three during qualifying, but I think we have a good race car for tomorrow,” said Goikhberg. “We may get some rain tomorrow, which could work in our favor. Either way, we will fight to earn points for the Heinricher Racing team, for Acura and for all of our partners.”
The Road America race will be staged on Sunday, August 2nd, with live race coverage on NBC starting at 12:00pm ET.
