LAKEVILLE, CT (29 May 2022)- After being cancelled the last two years due to COVID-19 and severe weather, the Royals’ Garage Car Show and Hagerty Cars & Caffeine returned in full force with nearly 400 cars and hundreds of enthusiasts lining the Sam Posey Straight for the Sundays at The Park event.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Smilow Cancer Center.
The inaugural Connecticut Craft Beer Grand Prix was also a success. Accompanied by the area’s best food trucks, a dozen local breweries showcased the outstanding quality and variety of Connecticut craft beer on the Lime Rock grounds on Sunday, held as part of the Memorial Day Classic.
A committee of brewers and experienced beer judges from across the state have developed 15 medal categories. Each category contained a variety of BJCP and Great American Beer Festival defined sub-styles to allow participating breweries to best match and categorize their entries. The Brewery at Maple View Farm of Grandby, Conn., won the overall competition, taking home the award for Best Overall Taste for its four beers entered. East Hartford Brewing Group won the Fan Favorite vote for its Pennyweisse Citrus Wheat Ale.
The Memorial Day Classic concludes Monday with racing from the Tran Am Series presented by Pirelli, Sportscar Vintage Race Association (SVRA) and Skip Barber Race Series. General admission tickets are still available. Active military and veterans receive free admission. For event information visit: Memorial Day Classic – Lime Rock Park
