Bloomingdale, Ga. (8 December 2022) – Jr III Racing (“Junior Three”) will head to Roebling Road Raceway just outside of Savannah, Ga., for the team’s final race of the 2023 season on Sunday. BMW CCA, Tar Heel chapter, and Vintage Drivers Club of America (VDCA) will be on track starting Friday, December 9th.

Jr III Racing will bring two 2020 BMW M2 CSR entries to compete in the BMW CCA events.

Alan Davis will drive the No. 47 Southern Strain Brewing BMW M2, while team co-owner Bill Glavin Jr will take the controls of the No. 99 BMW M2 entry.

Both Jr III Racing M2 CSRs have competed in five events this season, taking to the track at some notable venues including Sebring International Raceway, VIRginia International Raceway, Watkins Glen International, and Daytona International Speedway.

It will be a busy weekend for the Charlotte-area team, as Jr III Racing will also assist Vito Bigioni who will be competing in the VDCA events at Roebling Road on board a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona. This weekend will be the Ferrari’s second outing at Roebling Road, having last visited the track with Jr III Racing when Bigioni tested the car as part of his licensing process.  Marc Sharinn will pilot Bigioni’s second Ferrari, a 1976 Ferrari 308 GT4 which will see its second race outing of the year, having taken to the track at Sebring earlier this season at the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) event.

“I’m excited about this weekend, this is a pretty special event for me and my family,” said Jr III Racing team co-owner Billy Glavin III. “I have been coming to this event for years—before I started the team, I would go to this event with my dad. Since we started Jr III, the team has also gone every year. This BMW CCA / VDCA event is a great way to end the year. The clubs put on a pig roast for everyone on Saturday, and we will have a low-key, fun weekend.”

The event will include a BMW drivers school, which Jr III Racing mechanic Chris Long will complete to get his racing license. Long will take his test in the Chandler School BMW M2. Jr III Racing supports The Chandler School with its automotive program, which usually competes in the World Racing League and the ChampCar Endurance series. (https://thechandlerschool.org/

“Between testing, IMSA races, and vintage series races, we have had cars on track at least once a month this year so it has been consistent and busy for us,” continued Glavin. “We’ve had a great year, and will be a nice change of pace to get back to the shop after this weekend and get geared up for 2023.”

The BMW CCA / VDCA weekend will begin with the BMW driver’s school and practice and qualifying sessions on Friday, December 9th. Saturday involves 30-minute VDCA races and a BMW Enduro race. To wrap up the weekend, VDCA will have an enduro race followed by BMW’s feature races.
