Meyer Shank Racing Set for Third-Row Start at Road America

#60: Meyer Shank Racing W/Curb-Agajanian, Acura ARX-06, GTP: Colin Braun, Tom Blomqvist

Elkhart Lake, Wisc. (5 August 2023) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) with Curb-Agajanian will start from the third row in Sunday’s IMSA SportsCar Weekend feature race at Road America on Sunday (11:00am ET, USA, SiriusXM Ch. 207).

Colin Braun turned in a lap of 1:48.228-seconds in the No. 60 AutoNation / SiriusXM Acura ARX-06 co-driven by Tom Blomqvist for the seventh GTP race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which was sixth-fastest in the 20-minute session.

The team is coming off its second victory of the season, winning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and hoping to continue that into Sunday’s two hour 40-minute race.

While some of the GTP teams gambled by pitting for a second set of Michelins during qualifying – a new option for GTP cars – MSR opted to save its tires for the race. Braun waited in the pits for two minutes into the session before joining the other competitors in the class for the new hybrid-powered LMDh prototypes.

After two build laps, he set a time of 1:48.586-seconds that briefly put him third in the order. He improved on that time on his next lap. After cooling his tires for a circuit of the four-mile track, Braun improved to run his best lap of the day with three minutes remaining.

MSR is set to take the green flag at 11:10am ET for Sunday’s two-hour, 40-minute race. Following the event, only the Tirerack.com Battle of the Bricks on Sept. 17 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Motul Petit Le Mans on Oct. 14 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta remain on the 2023 IMSA schedule.

Meyer Shank Racing Team Quotes:

Colin Braun:
“We had a challenging Day 1 with some braking related issues & we took a bit of a gamble for today in Qualifying with some big changes, so all things considered it was a positive session for us. I think we can take our session and refine for tomorrow, more confident going into the race. New surface is going to be interesting to see how it races – a big unknown but it will be exciting I’m sure!”
