Jr III Racing Prepared for IMSA WeatherTech Finale

#30 Jr III Racing Ligier JS P320 LMP3 Ari Balogh, Garett Grist, Nolan Siegel

Inaugural VP Fuels championship on the line Thursday and Friday, Strong entry for Saturday’s season finale

Braselton, Ga. (11 October 2023) – Having made the rapid ascension from a one-off IMSA Prototype Challenge entry to fielding two competitive LMP3 entries in the IMSA WeatherTech championship, the 26th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans marks an end of an era for the Jr III (“Junior-Three”) Racing team as the LMP3 class makes its final WeatherTech appearance.

Garett Grist, Dakota Dickerson and Bijoy Garg will team up to drive the No. 30 Wing Ligier JS P320 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend for the IMSA WeatherTech season finale.

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta has a lot of meaning to Jr III Racing, in 2020 Grist and teammates Ari Balogh and Spencer Pigot scored the team’s first WeatherTech series podium with a second place finish, which also marked the first completed IMSA WeatherTech race for Jr III Racing. The team returned in 2022 scoring another second place finish with Grist, Balogh and Nolan Siegel.

Jr III Racing started as an IMSA Prototype Challenge team in 2019 with two outings in the No. 3 Ligier, before moving to the WeatherTech series in 2021 late in the season. Since its time in the WeatherTech series, the team has scored six runner up finishes and two third place finishes. Jr III Racing hopes to finish the season on the top step to complete their podium efforts.

Garg will be pulling double duty as the team chases the first ever VP Racing SportsCar Challenge LMP3 championship. The California native currently leads the point standings by 90 points going into the final two races of the season. Garg and the No. 3 Wing / S2 Cyber Ligier team have scored five pole awards and six wins so far this season. The double header weekend will see races Thursday afternoon and Friday morning to determine the championship.

While it is the LMP3 category’s last race with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the ten hour race also marks Jr III Racing’s last IMSA WeatherTech start for the time being as the team will now work with United Autosports on its LMP2 IMSA WeatherTech entry in 2024.

The 26th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans will take the green flag on Saturday at 11:40am ET with full race coverage on the Peacock App. The ending of the race will be live on the USA Network starting at 6:30pm ET.

Garett Grist: “We had a really good test at Road Atlanta a few weeks ago. We were able to try a couple different setups to see what we like and I think it will really benefit us for the race. I think we have a great lineup for Petit, though I will miss Ari. Him and I have driven together for the last two seasons so it will be odd to not finish the season together. I love Road Atlanta, I love Petit, but it is bittersweet with it being the last LMP3 race in IMSA this year. We hope we can finish the year out with a strong finish.”

Dakota Dickerson: “I’m very excited to be back with Jr III Racing for Petit Le Mans. I’m going to miss having Ari with us for the race, but it is going to be a killer having Bijoy with us for the final round. We have an incredibly strong line up and we’re going to be pushing hard to get a win in the last race of the season. The team has been fighting for wins all year and I’m confident we will be doing the same again at Petit!”
