Acura MSR Takes Two-Race Winning Streak to Road America

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (29 July 2025) — Acura Meyer Shank Racing (“Acura MSR”) is riding the crest of a two-race winning streak coming into the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at scenic Road America, Round 8 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Tom Blomqvist took the lead on the final lap of the chaotic Sahlen’s Six Hours of Watkins Glen in June, the most recent race for the lead GTP category, joining Colin Braun for their first victory of the season in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06. Earlier in June, teammates Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly – coming off a thrilling closing-minute charge to win on the streets of Detroit – were forced to pit their No. 93 Acura coming to the final green flag while running second at the Glen. They finished sixth, joined by guest driver Kakunoshin “Kaku” Ohta.

With only three events remaining, Yelloly and van der Zande are third in the GTP standings, 46 points ahead of Blomqvist and Braun in sixth. At Road America, van der Zande has eight top-fives in 11 starts, including four podiums and one win in 2014. Yelloly has only two starts, and is looking to notch his name in the Road America record books.

Two years ago, Blomqvist and Braun scored their third-consecutive podium finish by placing second at Road America. He and former team driver Oliver Jarvis took fourth in 2022 on the classic 4.048-mile Road America layout. Blomqvist debuted at the circuit in 2019, when he started seventh and finished fifth in GTLM.

Braun is a two-time WeatherTech Championship winner at Road America, scoring five podium finishes. He won overall in 2018, co-driving an ORECA LMP2 and also won in LMP3 in 2021. Braun also ran in a NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the circuit, starting third and finishing 11th in 2010 for legendary car owner Jack Roush.

Practice for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend begins with a 90-minute session on Friday at 2 p.m. (all times CT). Saturday includes a second 90-minute practice at 9:05 a.m. followed by GTP qualifying at 5:55 p.m (live stream beginning at 5:35pm ET). The two-hour, 40-minute race begins at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday.

The race and qualifying will be streamed live on Peacock and broadcast on SiriusXM channel 206.

Meyer Shank Racing Team Quotes:

Tom Blomqvist: “Road America is probably my favorite track in North America. The team has good momentum off the back of two victories, and it’s a track that should suit our car, which is great. I’m hopeful and confident that me, Colin and the 60 crew can fight for another victory this weekend.”

Renger van der Zande: “Road America is one of those weekends where we should have a strong car. I feel everything that is flat is good for our car, so the track could be favorable for us. Also, we had a really good test there. Straight out of the box the car felt good, and we can fine tune it this weekend before we go racing. Also, I’m bringing my family to Elkhart Lake, so looking forward to another great summer weekend at the track.”
