Yelloly captures third-consecutive pole for Acura MSR

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (2 Aug 2025) — Nick Yelloly captured the third-consecutive pole position for Acura Meyer Shank Racing’s (“Acura MSR”) No. 93 Acura, leading qualifying for Sunday’s Motul SportsCar Grand Prix. Another streak is on the line Sunday, with the team seeking its third-straight race win in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Yelloly turned in a fast lap of 1:48.628-seconds on the challenging 4.048-mile Road America circuit in the No. 93 Acura ARX-6. He topped the chart with five minutes remaining in the 15-minute session and then held on to take his second pole of the campaign. Yelloly won the pole at Detroit where co-driver Renger van der Zande delivered a late-race charge to victory. Van der Zande then kept the pole streak alive by leading qualifying in the most recent IMSA event at Watkins Glen.

Colin Braun qualified fourth in the No. 60 Acura ARX-6 (co-driven by Tom Blomqvist) with a lap of 1:48.708-seconds. He ranked second with one minute remaining, but two competitors managed to slip in faster laps as time ran out, and denied the team its second front-row sweep. The top four cars were covered by 0.080 of a second, which is the closest top four of the IMSA season.

In their last outing, Braun and Blomqvist won the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, taking the victory on the final lap.

Acura MSR demonstrated strong pace in practice. Blomqvist paced the opening session with a lap of 1:51.255-seconds, while Yelloly was second in Saturday’s final practice at 1:46.682-seconds, only 0.006-seconds behind the leader.

The two-hour, 40-minute race begins at 1:10 p.m. CT on Sunday, and will be streamed live on Peacock and broadcast on SiriusXM channel 206.

Meyer Shank Racing Team Quotes:

Nick Yelloly: “Very happy about getting the pole, of course it’s the best place to start. And I got a couple more points as well. I made a little mistake on the lap after, where I was actually tracking a little bit faster. So, I’m glad we were able to put it on pole after all, with two of my old sparring partners from my old manufacturer behind me! Nice way to finish the day. Great job to all the men and women at HRC and Meyer Shank Racing for putting it all together in order to give me a car that was capable of accomplishing this. Onwards to tomorrow!”

Colin Braun: “Decent qualifying for us. Struggled a little bit this morning just to get a clean lap, but I knew we had a good car. It’s just a matter of putting it together and getting a rhythm and getting a lap in. I mean, so close out there. Obviously, congrats to the 93 guys and Nick, that was a nice lap. But it’s super tight in this GTP class. I feel like we have a good race car and certainly both Acuras starting in the front gives us some options. Proud of all the guys. They’ve been working hard and it’s nice to see it paying off.”
