2024 rookie of the year Drury returns to PT Autosport and GR Cup for Indy finale

MILLVILLE, NJ (October 13, 2025) – PT Autosport with Copeland Motorsports will see a familiar face return to the No. 88 PT Autosport/Race Brew 0.0% Toyota GR86 Cup Car this weekend, as 2024 Toyota GR Cup series rookie of the year and 2022 Aspiring Driver Shootout winner Henry Drury returns to the team for the season ending doubleheader at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Drury will fill in for Max Stallone, who steps away from the series this weekend in order to remain eligible for several post-season scholarships and shootouts.

The 25-year-old English-born, Tampa, Fla. resident has competed in the Ginetta Challenge North America series this season, recently scoring a double pole, double victory weekend at VIRginia International Raceway. Drury knows the myriad of differences between the Ginetta and the Toyota and looks forward to the challenge – while also keeping an eye on his prospects for 2026.

“It will certainly be a hectic test day Wednesday as I get used to the car, but I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Drury. “The GR Cup car requires a very specific driving style that’s a completely different way of driving than some of the cars I’ve driven recently, especially with the difference in approach between teams, so I’m treating it as learning a new car for the first time rather than returning to something familiar. But being able to adapt quickly is one of the core tenets of being a successful race car driver, that ability to jump into anything and learn how to be fast quickly. I’ve been lucky to be thrown into some odd situations where I’ve had to learn a car in just a few laps, so hopefully that will pay off!”

In 14 Toyota GR Cup races in 2024, Drury scored four top 10 finishes including a podium. The Indy weekend was his best of the year, setting the quickest lap time in both races on his way to a sixth and a fourth-place finish – despite being hit on the final lap.

“It is nice to have a little bit of momentum in that the last time I drove a GR86 was my best race weekend of that season” continued Drury. “Hopefully I can go one better this year and finally get a series win. Given that thoughts are already turning to plans for 2026, it’s top of mind for me that you’re only as good as your last result, so the goal is go out and win some trophies, to remind people that I’m still here, even if I haven’t been competing in GR this year, and I can still compete at the front. I want to remind people that I’m here and at the top of my game, and that I should be up there at the top of that list for progression into a GT4 seat in 2026.”

While disappointed that Stallone has to miss the weekend, PT Autosport team principal Jason Myers is also pleased with his prospective opportunities – and with the chance to give Drury another shot.

“It was really unfortunate that Max couldn’t race at Indy in GR Cup, but maintaining his scholarship eligibility is first and foremost,” said Myers. “We were super impressed with his results in the six races he had, consistently finishing in the top 10 and bringing home some solid prize money – and gaining a ton of experience in the all-Toyota field. With that said, I am beyond excited to welcome back PT Autosport’s first Aspiring Driver Shootout winner and 2024 GR Cup Rookie of the Year Henry Drury in the no. 88 Race Brew by Momentum/PT Autosport GR Cup car! Henry has been with the team almost since its inception and a team player in every way – from running our eSeries to helping with our website and running events, to piloting our Ginetta G56 GTA in the Ginetta series, Henry does it all and we are lucky to have him aboard the team. He truly embodies what we are looking for in an Aspiring Driver Shootout winner. He’s had some great experience driving and coaching in GT4 machinery this past year, and we’re looking forward to getting him in some GT4 machinery for the 2025 season.”

Drury, who endured two surgeries after injuring his back during his previous career as an Olympic-level figure skater, will also be working as an ambassador for the Washington, DC-based National Spine Health Foundation in October, which is Spinal Awareness Month. Drury will be doing social media throughout the month, educating fans on the importance of learning about proper spinal care early in life.

“Having spent more than 10 years of my life suffering from chronic back pain since I injured my back as a teenager, I’m thrilled to be working with the National Spine Health Foundation during Spine Health Awareness month to help educate others on Spinal Health,” said Drury. “Back pain is a universal issue affecting over half a billion people worldwide, including  the 80% of Americans who either currently suffer from or will suffer from back pain during their lifetime – many of whom could have avoided or lessened that suffering if they’d had access to better education on how to take care of their spine from a young age. It’s critical that we try to share that education to help preserve quality of life for people of all ages.”

The Toyota GR Cup series will contest two 45-minute races at Indy – race one will take the green flag Saturday at 8:50 a.m. ET, with race two Sunday at 11:05 a.m. Both races will be broadcast live at www.grcup.com.
