Negri Returns to Racing at Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, NY- 2012 Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Ozz Negri will return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition next weekend in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. Negri will drive the No. 51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3 entry with co-drivers Daniel Serra and Francesco Piovanetti.

After taking several overall race wins while competing full time in IMSA from 2006 through 2017, Negri has moved his competitive focus to his growing roster of driver coaching and management clients.

Negri has taken podium results on both the short course and traditional Six Hour track layout in IMSA Prototype competition, including a run to third place at the track in 2016 with Meyer Shank Racing.

Spirit of Race participated in a test at Watkins Glen last month, giving Negri the opportunity to sample the Ferrari for the first time.

“I’m looking forward to racing again, especially at Watkins Glen, it is absolutely my favorite track,,” said Negri. “I was really impressed with the 488 GT3 and how quickly you can get comfortable with that car. This is a strong team to be racing with, and we have all the pieces we need to have a competitive weekend.”

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen will open with practice on Friday, June 29, with qualifying to set the grid on June 30 ahead of the July 1 race starting at 9:45 a.m. ET (live coverage on FS1).
