Heinricher Racing Heads West to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

Pataskala, Ohio (9 September 2019) – With just two rounds left in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Heinricher Racing makes its way to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with Katherine Legge and Christina Nielsen in the No. 57 Caterpillar Acura NSX GT3 for the Monterey SportsCar Championship this Sunday, September 15th (NBC 3:00pm ET).

Knowing the success of recent years at Laguna Seca, the team is excited as it returns to the 2.238-mile California circuit.

The 2018 edition of the IMSA Laguna Seca round marked a big weekend as Legge claimed the pole position while also setting a new track record onboard the Acura NSX. She then went on to claim the GTD class victory—the fourth career victory for the Acura NSX platform.

Legge is hoping to repeat last year’s success alongside Nielsen, who will be making her seventh start with Heinricher Racing and Meyer Shank Racing this season.

“Laguna was a great race for us last year, scoring the pole and the win in the Acura,” said Legge. “We will be focusing on trying to repeat those results this year. It’s great to also have Christina back in the car with me. She has performed very well all season long so I’m feeling pretty confident heading into the race weekend.”

Nielsen also has a familiarity with the Laguna Seca podium, having scored a victory in 2017 as well as a second-place finish in 2016.

“Laguna is sort of my home race since I am based here in California,” said Nielsen. “It is one of the iconic tracks that we go to and with the championship tightening up, everyone will be a little bit more on edge. I had a podium finish in 2016 and a win in 2017. Combining that experience with the strength the NSX has shown here in the past and I’m confident we’ll have a good result.”

“I am looking forward to a great race at Laguna Seca, especially with Katherine and Christina pairing up,” said team principal Jackie Heinricher. “They’ve both had tremendous success at this track. The No. 57 Heinricher Racing Caterpillar Acura is heading into the second-to-last race of the IMSA championship with great excitement. We will make history by finishing out the championship as the first professional female team to compete for a full season in the 50 years of the series.”

The Monterey SportsCar Championship race will be on Sunday, September 15th with live TV coverage on NBC starting at 3:00pm ET.
