Taylor Hagler Takes Championship Lead to Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, N.Y. (21 June 2021) – Currently leading the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) TCR class championship, Taylor Hagler will make her first IMSA race start at Watkins Glen International (WGI) this weekend.

Driving the No. 77 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster N TCR, Hagler will pair with BHA teammate Michael Lewis as the duo look to continue their upward trajectory in the results having netted fourth, third, and second place finishes thus far in 2021. Watkins Glen will play host to two consecutive rounds, with the upstate New York track being selected to host the replacement round for Canadian Tire Motorsport Park next Friday (July 2nd).

The Tioga Downs Casino Resort 240 is the fourth stop on the 2021 IMPC schedule as well as the final four-hour endurance race of the year.

Daytona International Speedway staged the first endurance IMPC event which saw Hagler and BHA teammate Michael Lewis combine to score a top five finish, narrowly missing the final step on the podium by 0.033-seconds.

Hagler will take momentum to The Glen after having scored two podiums in the last two IMPC rounds at Sebring International Raceway and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as she and Lewis have set themselves up as a car to watch this year.

While the race is Hagler’s first IMSA start at the track, she has previous experience on the track, having netted her first career pole position and podium finish during her inaugural season of professional racing in TC America in 2019.

“I’m looking forward to my first start at Watkins Glen in the Hyundai Veloster N TCR,” said Hagler. “This track was where I had early success back in 2019. Knowing I have had success there before gives me confidence to carry that into this weekend. Michael (Lewis) and I are focused on strong finishes and earning as many points as we can. We want to continue leading the championship, but we also want to win for Bryan Herta Autosport and Hyundai.”

On-track action for the Tioga Downs Casino Resort 240 begins Friday, June 25th with practice and qualifying before race day on Saturday, June 26th. Live coverage of the four-race endurance race will begin at 2:30PM ET on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.
