Lime Rock Hosts Ciclismo Classico Film Festival

LAKEVILLE, Conn. Sept. 19, 2023 –  Setting a cornerstone of a new Berkshire BikeFest, organizers of the October 8 Lime Rock Park Epic Presented by Specialized have partnered with Ciclismo Classico to host the first ever outdoor showing of their popular Bike Travel Festival.

“We are working with our friends at Berkshire Velo to help promote their Fall Foliage Gravel Grinder on Saturday just over the Massachusetts border,” said co-founder Richard Fries. “Offering this campground with proper amenities and this amazing film festival makes it that much more attractive for out-of-towners looking to cap-off the New England gravel season with an idyllic autumn weekend.”

“While we specialize in Italian cycling vacations, our roots are here in New England. And the Berkshires in early October offers some of the greatest adventures one can have on two wheels anywhere on this planet,” said Lauren Hefferon, founder of Ciclismo Classico.”An outdoor showing of our film festival, which inspires every type of cyclist, can only magnify the cycling experience of the following day.”

Campers will awaken to find coffee service and even sunrise yoga led by Kripalu trained Nora Leigh to prepare for the main event. Sunday’s Lime Rock Park Epic event will offer three options: The “Epic” will be a 68-mile route with nearly 6,000 feet of climbing. The “Explorer” will be a 53-mile route with nearly 4,000 feet of climbing. Both of those options showcase unpaved roads that are both scenic and challenging. Organizers will also offer a gentle 18-mile “Express” route with just two easy dirt road sectors for beginners and novices.

All entrants will receive souvenirs, number plates, chip timing, pre-ride mechanical service, SAG support, fully stocked rest stops, beverages, post-ride lunch and craft beers as part of their entry.

While the event is a recreational tour, some sectors will be timed to offer friendly competition with the top three finishers in certain categories recognized.

The second edition of the  Lime Rock Park Epic Presented by Specialized will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023. Organized by New England-based Domestique Events LLC, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program. Camping is available Oct. 7 with a special outdoor bike-in theater showing of the 14th Annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival.. For more information, visit www.bikereg.com/limerockepic.
