Pataskala, Ohio (14 January 2020) – 8 races won, 25 podium finishes, and one championship title claimed. One thing that is a constant between these major milestones for Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) is the support that Curb Records has provided to the team as they celebrate their 10th year of competition together.
Curb Records first joined the Meyer Shank Racing family in 2011 at the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona. Fast forward 10 years and several successes later, and the relationship between MSR and Curb Records has only gotten stronger.
“I first met Mike (Shank) at the race track several years ago and I knew immediately that I wanted to work with him,” said Curb Records President, Mike Curb. “He had been, and still is, such an integral component of the series and that made it an easy decision to join Mike and his team.”
Curb Records is one of the most successful independently owned record labels in the world and is based in the epicenter for country music, Nashville, Tennessee. Owner and operator, Mike Curb, has a career spanning over five decades that has seen him earn multifaceted success as a songwriter, producer and record company owner.
The label has created over 300 No. 1 records and has been honored by Billboard Magazine as Country Music Label of the Year and Mediabase CRS Gold Label of the year.
With such a successful history, it only makes sense that Curb Records and Meyer Shank Racing combined to create their own success – this time in the sports car world.
Curb Records was front and center when MSR won the coveted Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona in 2012 with AJ Allmendinger, Michael McDowell and the late Justin Wilson. Just one year later, Curb Records was featured on the MSR Daytona Prototype which earned the posted the new speed record at Daytona International Speedway with Colin Braun.
The budding partnership saw Curb Records a key partner at every step of the way as MSR has gone on to claim eight race victories and 25 podium finishes all leading up to the team’s very first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship title in 2019 with the Acura NSX GT3.
“It’s been a really exciting journey for not just Curb Records but for myself as well,” said Curb. “I have been a fan – and team owner myself – in racing and it has been amazing to see how IMSA and MSR have grown over the years. Honestly not much has changed since the first time that I met Mike. He’s always known what he is doing and we just follow his lead. It’s been a really fun 10 years and here’s to many more together.”
MSR Co-Owner, Mike Shank values each and every partnership individually and focuses on the longevity of creating a mutually beneficial relationship.
“Having Mike and Curb Records onboard with us for 10 years is really something special,” said Shank. “We’re starting our 10th year together. We’re coming off of a championship victory in 2019 and we couldn’t have gotten to that point if it weren’t for people like Mike. There are many people that need to come together in order to run a race team, but there are really important people that are needed to run a successful race team, and Curb Records has been a major contributing factor in our success.”
Curb Records will be featured on the MSR Acuras for the 10th straight year starting with the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona on January 23-26.
