Sunday Group Management acquires Layer Cake Media

Erin Cechal Joins Sunday Group Management

 

Indianapolis, Ind. (20 January 2023)   Sunday Group Management is pleased to announce that Erin Cechal has joined the company ahead of the 2023 season as Account Manager for the firm. Sunday Group Management provides media relations management, video production services, as well as social and digital media solutions for race teams, drivers, tracks, OEM manufacturers, and tracks.

The appointment follows Sunday Group Management’s acquisition of Layer Cake Media LLC, which Cechal first founded in 2013. Layer Cake supported a range of client programs including Porsche Motorsport North America’s championship-winning factory GTLM effort in IMSA, CORE Autosport’s championship-winning campaigns, as well as the SRO America program for RealTime Racing.

The position will see Cechal continue her role with Sunday Group heading the media relations and social media content for the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup. She will also be working with 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Champions and defending Rolex 24 At Daytona winners Meyer Shank Racing with the team’s factory Acura IMSA GTP program that will debut next weekend in Daytona.

Cechal will also oversee Sunday Group’s growing client base in SRO Fanatec GT World America competition as well as managing Sunday Group Management’s media training programs.

Having a lifelong passion for the sport, Cechal first donned a helmet as a young karter, racing in both two and four cycle competition at the Badger Kart ClubShe first worked in the sport as a Media Assistant at Road America before joining the SCCA media relations staff, where she gained experience with race coverage for the Runoffs and focused on the burgeoning Mazda MX-5 Cup series as well as SPEED World Challenge. Cechal joined JMI with the launch of Motorsports Legends before moving to manage the media relations department for IMSA’s American Le Mans Series.

Her knowledge of what makes the sport tick is a tremendous asset to our clients, and this new role will also give her the opportunity to take on some new challenges and continue her career progression.”
