Christin Downey Joins Sunday Group Management

Indianapolis firm grows capabilities with client services program

Indianapolis, Ind. (22 February 2023) – With over two decades of providing media relations management, social media strategy and programming, and video production services, Sunday Group Management (SGM) has expanded its range of service offerings to include client relations management and program activation.

To support this growth, Sunday Group is pleased to welcome Christin Downey onboard as Client Services Manager. Downey will focus on supporting the execution of commercial services for long time Sunday Group client Meyer Shank Racing (MSR).

After winning 2016 Petit Le Mans as a privateer effort, MSR was selected by Acura to manage the NSX GT3 program in IMSA starting in 2017. MSR has had significant growth as well as success in both IMSA and INDYCAR competition in the years that followed. The team scored the IMSA GTD class championship in 2019 and 2020, and netted the 2022 IMSA DPi championship after winning both the Rolex 24 At Daytona as well as the season-ending Petit Le Mans event. The team has continued that momentum in 2023, taking a dramatic overall victory in the 2023 Rolex 24 At Daytona as IMSA launched the GTP class and a new era of hybrid technology.

The team has also made rapid and significant strides with the INDYCAR program, growing from a one-off entry in the 2017 Indianapolis 500 into a full-time program that captured the 2021 Indianapolis 500 with Helio Castroneves. The team is prepared for its second season as a full-time two-car program with drivers Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud in 2023. The demand for MSR’s partner activity has grown in sync as more and more sponsors implement their marketing strategies with the team’s IMSA and INDYCAR series programs.

Downey will handle all partner execution both at and away from the track. Working hand in hand with MSR Account Manager, Maddie Komar, Downey will serve as the primary sponsor contact to oversee the execution of MSR’s commercial programs, from appearance requests to onsite partner logistics.

Downey has experience working with Mercedes-AMG, Maserati and Ferrari facilitating event experiences for a variety of clients. Downey first gained experience in the IMSA paddock working with Torque Media. Downey’s eagerness to provide top of the line service paired with excellent communication as well as her ability to provide valuable relationships will be invaluable in her new role with Sunday Group.

“I’m super excited to join Sunday Group Management,” said Downey. “To work in racing full-time has been a dream of mine for a few years. I fell in love with the sport after a work transition landed me in the automotive industry. Being able to combine what I love in an environment that I have a true passion for is an honor. Joining an organization like Sunday Group, where I can work beside an incredibly talented team of people; to say I am excited about what the future holds is an understatement.”

Sunday Group has continued to grow, having added three people to the team ahead of the 2023 season as the firm’s word of mouth reputation and results have continued to foster growth and new opportunities.

“The partnerships that Mike (Shank), Jim (Meyer), and Tim (Meyer) have developed have been absolutely critical to not only the team’s growth, but also the level of performance that the team can deliver,” said Sunday Group Management founder Matt Cleary. “As those programs grew, it was clear that we needed dedicated talent and assets to properly support them,  so it was a natural progression for us to take this on for Mike and the team. Christin has done an outstanding job to be ready for the season and after a big kick off to the year with the Rolex 24 win, we are all eager to get things going on the Indycar side next week at St. Pete.”
