Nick Galante will carry the iconic livery in the Sports Car Championship Canada tripleheader
LOS ANGELES (26 July 2023) – The Racing to End Alzheimer’s team heads to the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières circuit next weekend, with Nick Galante once again contesting the Sports Car Championship Canada presented by Michelin tripleheader behind the wheel of a very special Mercedes AMG GT4 prepared by Toronto-based VPX Motorsport.
With the success of the joint venture between Racing to End Alzheimer’s, VPX Motorsport and FEL Motorsports (owners of the Canadian series), the team returns to Canada bringing its message of hope – and to raise funds for the Federation of Quebec Alzheimer Societies.
“After the wonderful race experience in Toronto, we are pleased to accept the invitation to run with VPX Motorsport at the upcoming Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières,” said Racing to End Alzheimer’s founder Phil Frengs. “Our warm reception from racing fans and donors at the Honda Indy weekend and our collaboration with Alzheimer Society of Toronto were both so rewarding. We have learned that Alzheimer’s disease knows no borders. Now we have the great opportunity to race and to partner with the Federation of Quebec Alzheimer Societies.”
The No. 77 Mercedes gives families the chance to honor loved ones who have suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. For a $250 CAN donation, the family member’s name and hometown is placed on the car, and their photo can be posted on the R2EndAlz website’s tribute page. All donations are triple-matched by Legistics, VPX Motorsport and FEL Motorsport, with 100% going to the Federation of Quebec Alzheimer Societies.
The team recently competed in the SCCC tripleheader at the Honda Indy Toronto, with 24 names added to the No. 77, bringing the total names to 150. The team was successful on track as well, with Galante taking podiums in all three races, including two victories.
“VPX Motorsport is thrilled to have Phil and Nick back with the team!” said team owner Dr. Vince Partap. “We saw the impact the Racing to End Alzheimer’s organization had in Toronto and we wanted to help advance their message in other cities that we race. It was our honor to collaborate and contribute to their success in Toronto and hope to make the experience as rewarding in Quebec.”
The Sports Car Championship Canada’s tripleheader at Trois-Rivières will be contested August 4 and 5, with the three race times TBD. The races will be live streamed on the FEL Motorsports YouTube channel.
